Frame your credentials around Gartner's advisory model
Gartner's Strategy Director roles typically require demonstrated experience influencing enterprise technology decisions, not just internal strategy work. Position your background around client-facing advisory, research leadership, or go-to-market execution to match how Gartner defines the function.
Target roles tied to Gartner's research practices
Gartner organizes Strategy Directors around specific technology coverage areas. Applying to roles aligned with a practice you have depth in, such as cloud infrastructure or enterprise software, gives your application a stronger specialty occupation foundation for H-1B purposes.
Confirm sponsorship intent before final interview rounds
Gartner's hiring process can move quickly through multiple panel rounds. Ask your recruiter directly whether the role is approved for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship before investing in case study or executive presentations, so there are no surprises at the offer stage.
Understand the LCA's impact on your offer location
Your H-1B is tied to the worksite listed on the Labor Condition Application filed with DOL. If Gartner offers a hybrid or remote arrangement, clarify which office will anchor your LCA, since changing worksites later can require an amended petition and affect your timeline.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open Strategy Director roles at Gartner
Search Migrate Mate's job board to filter specifically for Strategy Director openings at Gartner that include visa sponsorship. This surfaces roles aligned to your visa type so you're not applying blind to positions that won't support your immigration situation.
Plan your Green Card timeline around Gartner's PERM filing pace
EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through Gartner requires PERM labor certification with DOL before USCIS sees the petition. The full process typically spans several years, so raise long-term sponsorship expectations with your hiring manager at or shortly after the offer stage.

Find Strategy Director at Gartner JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Gartner sponsor H-1B visas for Strategy Directors?
Yes, Gartner sponsors H-1B visas for Strategy Director roles. The position qualifies as a specialty occupation given the degree requirements in fields like business, economics, or a technology-related discipline. Sponsorship availability can vary by specific team and business unit, so confirm directly with your recruiter during the offer process that the role is approved for H-1B support before accepting.
How do I apply for Strategy Director jobs at Gartner?
Applications go through Gartner's careers portal, but the most efficient way to find open Strategy Director roles that include visa sponsorship is through Migrate Mate, which filters Gartner listings by visa type. Gartner's process typically involves a recruiter screen, a hiring manager interview, and a panel or case-based round, so prepare examples of research-led or advisory-driven strategy work.
Which visa types does Gartner commonly use for Strategy Director roles?
H-1B is the most common pathway for Strategy Directors at Gartner. The company also supports TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates in eligible STEM or business fields, and J-1 for qualifying exchange visitors. For long-term sponsorship, Gartner has filed EB-2 and EB-3 petitions, which lead to a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Gartner expect for a sponsored Strategy Director role?
Gartner's Strategy Director roles typically require a bachelor's degree at minimum, with many positions preferring an MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field. Beyond credentials, Gartner looks for experience leading strategic initiatives in the technology or software sector, influencing senior stakeholders, and translating market research or client data into actionable go-to-market or advisory outputs. Specialty occupation status for H-1B purposes depends on the degree requirement being specific and directly tied to the role.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Gartner Strategy Director offer?
If you're changing status to H-1B or filing a new H-1B, USCIS standard processing runs several months, though premium processing can return a decision in as few as 15 business days for an additional fee. Green Card sponsorship through PERM with DOL adds significant time, often two to four years or more depending on your country of birth and priority date. Build these timelines into your conversation with Gartner at the offer stage.
