Translate your credentials into U.S. construction standards
Electrical construction firms like Gaylor Electric evaluate Development Managers on familiarity with U.S. project delivery models, not just sales experience. Get any foreign credentials evaluated by a NACES-recognized agency and map your portfolio to commercial or industrial electrical projects specifically.
Target Gaylor Electric's regional growth markets
Gaylor Electric operates across multiple states, and Development Manager openings often cluster around regions where they're expanding. Research which branches are actively bidding on commercial or industrial contracts and apply to those locations to improve your chances of landing an interview.
Clarify your visa type before the offer stage
Whether you're on F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, or TN status, Gaylor Electric needs to understand your current authorization timeline early. Bring this up once you've cleared initial screening, not after an offer, so their team can align the H-1B petition or status transfer with your start date.
Understand how H-1B cap timing affects your start date
If Gaylor Electric files an H-1B petition on your behalf, USCIS only opens the cap registration once a year, with an October 1 start date if selected. If you're close to an OPT expiration, discuss cap-gap protection with your DSO so your authorization stays intact through the transition.
Build a project pipeline portfolio relevant to electrical construction
Gaylor Electric's Development Managers are expected to pursue and close contracts in commercial, industrial, and data center construction. Arrive at interviews with specific examples of deals you've sourced, bid, or closed in those verticals. Generic sales experience without construction context rarely moves forward.

Does Gaylor Electric sponsor H-1B visas for Development Managers?
Yes, Gaylor Electric has sponsored H-1B visas for Development Manager roles. If you receive an offer, their HR team will coordinate the I-129 petition filing through USCIS. Because H-1B cap registration opens only once per year, timing your offer and start date around the annual cycle is important, especially if you're transitioning off OPT or another nonimmigrant status.
How do I apply for Development Manager jobs at Gaylor Electric?
You can apply directly through Gaylor Electric's careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters their open Development Manager roles by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm your status is supported before applying. Gaylor Electric typically looks for candidates with a background in electrical or mechanical construction sales, so tailoring your application to their project verticals strengthens your candidacy.
Which visa types does Gaylor Electric commonly use for Development Manager roles?
Gaylor Electric sponsors H-1B visas and also works with candidates on F-1 OPT and F-1 CPT for Development Manager positions. TN status is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. For long-term employment, H-1B is the most practical path, as it provides multi-year authorized work status and can be extended or used as a stepping stone toward permanent residence.
What qualifications does Gaylor Electric expect for a Development Manager?
Gaylor Electric typically looks for Development Managers with experience in construction business development, particularly in commercial, industrial, or data center electrical projects. A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field supports an H-1B specialty occupation filing. Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships, estimate project scope, and close contracts in the electrical construction market is expected at the interview stage.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take if I get an offer from Gaylor Electric?
If you're already on F-1 OPT, you can start working while Gaylor Electric files an H-1B petition, as long as your OPT expiration and cap-gap rules are managed correctly. H-1B processing through USCIS typically takes three to six months without premium processing, or two to three weeks with it. Your authorized start date under the H-1B cap is October 1 of the filing year, so timing your offer accordingly matters.
