Tailor your credentials to Generac's product lines
Generac focuses on standby generators, energy storage, and grid services. Frame your resume around hands-on experience with AC/DC power conversion, transfer switches, or inverter design rather than generic electrical engineering work.
Pursue PE licensure before applying
Power Systems Engineer roles in manufacturing often prefer or require a Professional Engineer license. Starting the PE process early signals long-term commitment to U.S. practice and can strengthen your H-1B specialty occupation case at USCIS.
Target Generac's product development hiring cycles
Generac ramps hiring around new product launches and regulatory compliance timelines. Monitoring open Power Systems Engineer requisitions in Waukesha and surrounding Wisconsin facilities gives you a timing edge before roles get filled internally.
Browse open Power Systems Engineer roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by visa sponsorship history, so you can identify active Generac openings where H-1B or Green Card sponsorship has been filed for this specific role before applying.
Clarify sponsorship scope before accepting an offer
Confirm whether Generac will sponsor both the H-1B and eventual PERM labor certification for permanent residence. Some manufacturing employers sponsor H-1B status but don't initiate the EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card process without a separate negotiation.

Find Power Systems Engineer at Generac Power Systems JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Generac Power Systems sponsor H-1B visas for Power Systems Engineers?
Yes, Generac Power Systems has sponsored H-1B visas for Power Systems Engineers. The company operates in a specialized manufacturing segment where demand for qualified engineers often exceeds the domestic supply, making visa sponsorship a practical hiring tool. Sponsorship is typically tied to a specific role and location, so confirming the details with the hiring team during the offer stage is important.
How do I apply for Power Systems Engineer jobs at Generac Power Systems?
Apply directly through Generac's careers portal on their company website, where Power Systems Engineer openings are posted by location and business unit. You can also browse current Generac listings filtered by visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate, which makes it easier to confirm sponsorship eligibility before you invest time in the application process.
Which visa types does Generac Power Systems commonly use for Power Systems Engineers?
Generac has filed for both H-1B nonimmigrant status and employment-based Green Cards, including EB-2 and EB-3 categories, for Power Systems Engineers. H-1B is the most common entry point for international engineers entering U.S. employment. EB-2 applies where the role requires an advanced degree, while EB-3 covers positions requiring at least a bachelor's degree with specialized knowledge.
What qualifications does Generac Power Systems expect for Power Systems Engineer roles?
Most Power Systems Engineer roles at Generac require a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field, with hands-on experience in power electronics, generator systems, or energy storage. Familiarity with UL, NFPA, or IEEE standards relevant to standby power products is often expected. Advanced degrees or PE licensure strengthen candidacy for senior-level positions.
What is the typical timeline for H-1B sponsorship at a manufacturing company like Generac?
The H-1B process follows a fixed annual cycle. Your employer files a registration in March, and if selected in the lottery, submits the full I-129 petition by June for an October 1 start date. USCIS standard processing takes three to six months. Premium processing, which USCIS offers for an additional fee, can reduce the adjudication period to roughly two to three weeks.
