Target roles that align with H-1B specialty occupation requirements
Genworth sponsors H-1B visas for roles requiring specialized expertise. Focus your applications on positions in quantitative analysis, financial modeling, actuarial science, or technology, roles where a specific degree field is a genuine requirement, not just a preference.
Understand that sponsorship decisions are made selectively
Genworth's sponsorship activity reflects targeted hiring rather than broad recruitment. Position yourself as a strong match for a specific role before raising visa needs, candidates who demonstrate clear technical fit are far more likely to advance through the process.
Emphasize domain expertise in asset management or insurance
Genworth operates at the intersection of investment management and risk. Candidates with backgrounds in portfolio analysis, risk modeling, or actuarial work have a natural fit, leading with that industry knowledge strengthens your case before sponsorship even comes up.
Raise sponsorship after demonstrating fit, not before
For a selective sponsor like Genworth, timing matters. Bring up H-1B sponsorship after you've established clear value in interviews. Recruiters are more receptive when they already see you as the right person for a technically demanding role.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Genworth sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Genworth does sponsor H-1B visas. Sponsorship is selective and concentrated in roles requiring specialized skills, typically in areas like quantitative finance, actuarial analysis, risk management, and technology. Candidates applying for generalist or administrative positions are less likely to receive sponsorship. Targeting roles where a specific technical degree is a hard requirement improves your chances considerably.
What types of roles at Genworth are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Genworth tends to align with technically demanding positions in investment analysis, actuarial science, data analytics, and software engineering. These are roles where specialized academic backgrounds are a genuine requirement. Positions in corporate functions like communications, HR, or general management are rarely sponsored. If your background is in quantitative or technology-driven work, you're targeting the right area.
How do I find current visa-sponsored job openings at Genworth?
Migrate Mate is the most reliable way to find verified sponsoring employers like Genworth and browse their current openings filtered by visa type. Because sponsorship history is pulled from government disclosure data, you can confirm Genworth's H-1B track record before applying, saving time compared to reaching out blindly through general job boards.
How do I approach Genworth recruiters about H-1B sponsorship?
The most effective approach is to lead with your qualifications, not your visa needs. Genworth recruiters in financial services respond best when candidates demonstrate specific technical fit first. Once you're in active conversations, ask directly whether the role supports H-1B sponsorship, most companies confirm this during the first structured interview or phone screen.
What is the typical timeline for H-1B sponsorship through an employer like Genworth?
If Genworth agrees to sponsor you, the standard H-1B process follows a fixed federal calendar. Employer registration opens in early March, the lottery runs shortly after, and approved petitions can start on October 1. From offer acceptance to work authorization, the process typically spans six to eight months. Candidates already in valid status, such as OPT, can often begin working before October under cap-gap protections.
