Does George Washington University sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, George Washington University sponsors H-1B visas and has a consistent track record of doing so across academic and research roles. Sponsorship is most common for faculty, research scientists, and specialist staff positions where the role meets H-1B specialty occupation requirements. If you're targeting GWU, roles in research-intensive departments offer the strongest path to sponsorship.
What visa types does George Washington University sponsor?
GWU sponsors H-1B visas for specialty occupation workers and supports employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term hires. The university also works with F-1 students on OPT and CPT arrangements, and sponsors TN visas for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional roles.
Which departments or roles at GWU are most likely to offer visa sponsorship?
Academic and research positions are where GWU's sponsorship activity is most concentrated. Faculty roles, postdoctoral researchers, and research scientists across departments like public health, engineering, international affairs, and medicine tend to have the strongest sponsorship track record. Administrative and operational roles are sponsored less frequently.
How do I time my application to GWU around the H-1B cap?
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date, so GWU would need to begin your sponsorship process well before that window. Universities are often cap-exempt employers, but this depends on the specific funding source and role structure. Clarify your role's cap status with GWU's international office early in the hiring process.
How do I find open jobs at George Washington University that offer visa sponsorship?
GWU posts openings across its schools and research centers, but not all listings explicitly state sponsorship eligibility. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for GWU roles based on verified sponsorship history, so you're not guessing which positions are open to international candidates. Starting your search there saves significant time and helps you prioritize the right applications.
