Align your portfolio with Google's infrastructure scale
Google's Architectural Engineer roles prioritize candidates with experience in large-footprint technical facilities, data centers, or campus environments. Frame your portfolio around projects at that scale before you apply, not after you get a callback.
Time your application around the H-1B cap cycle
If you need H-1B sponsorship, Google must file your petition before the April 1 deadline for October 1 start dates. Receiving an offer in January or February gives both sides enough runway to complete the USCIS registration and filing process.
Get your credentials evaluated before interviews progress
Google's technical hiring moves fast. If your degree is from outside the United States, obtain a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator in advance so it's ready when the offer stage begins and doesn't delay your I-129 filing.
Target Google's Real Estate and Workplace Services division directly
Architectural Engineer openings at Google predominantly sit within its Real Estate and Workplace Services org. Searching job boards by business unit rather than job title alone surfaces more relevant openings and signals familiarity with how Google structures this function.

Find Architectural Engineer at Google JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Architectural Engineers?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Architectural Engineer roles. The company participates in the annual H-1B cap lottery, which opens in March for an October 1 start date. If you're selected, Google files the full I-129 petition with USCIS on your behalf. Australian citizens can bypass the lottery entirely by pursuing the E-3 visa instead.
How do I apply for Architectural Engineer jobs at Google?
Applications go through Google's careers portal at careers.google.com. Roles are posted under the Real Estate and Workplace Services category. Tailor your resume to highlight large-scale facility or infrastructure projects, as Google's technical review process focuses heavily on project scope and systems complexity. You can also browse current openings through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type.
Which visa types does Google sponsor for Architectural Engineer roles?
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Architectural Engineer positions. H-1B is available to most nationalities but requires winning the annual lottery. H-1B1 is reserved for Chilean and Singaporean nationals and follows a separate, non-lottery process. E-3 is exclusive to Australian citizens and also bypasses the H-1B lottery, with a dedicated annual allocation that has historically gone unfilled.
What qualifications does Google expect for Architectural Engineer roles?
Google's Architectural Engineer positions typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in architecture, structural engineering, or a closely related field. Professional licensure such as a PE or RA is often preferred for senior-level roles. Practical experience with large technical facilities, data centers, or corporate campus projects carries significant weight in the hiring process, and a strong portfolio is expected at the interview stage.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take after receiving a Google offer?
For H-1B sponsorship, the standard timeline from offer to authorized start date is several months, since employment typically begins October 1 following the April filing window. E-3 and H-1B1 petitions move faster because there's no lottery, with consular processing often taking two to six weeks. Google's immigration team coordinates directly with outside counsel once an offer is accepted, so the process is largely managed on your behalf.
