Certify hardware skills Google actually tests
Google's Service Technician hiring often includes hands-on assessments of low-voltage systems, networking hardware, and data center equipment. Certifications like CompTIA A+, Network+, or vendor-specific credentials from Cisco or Juniper signal job-ready competence before you reach the interview stage.
Target Google's data center locations strategically
Google's Service Technician openings cluster around its data center campuses in Council Bluffs, Dalles, and Lenoir. Applying to postings tied to these locations increases your odds of landing a role where on-site technical staffing is a genuine operational priority, not a pipeline position.
Clarify visa type eligibility before accepting an offer
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for this role. Australian citizens should confirm E-3 eligibility with the recruiter early, since E-3 processing moves faster and bypasses the H-1B lottery, which only runs once a year with a registration window in March.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsorship-confirmed openings
Not every Service Technician posting at Google will explicitly state visa sponsorship. Search for verified open roles using Migrate Mate, which surfaces positions where Google has an active sponsorship history for this specific job function, saving you time on roles that won't move forward.
Align your resume to Google's internal job classification
Google distinguishes between field service, data center operations, and facilities technician tracks internally. Match your resume language to the exact job family in the posting. Using Google's own terminology for shift-based infrastructure support roles reduces the chance of automated filtering before a recruiter sees your application.
Understand the LCA filing requirement before your start date
Before Google can file your H-1B or E-3 petition, it must obtain a certified Labor Condition Application from the DOL confirming your offered wage meets the prevailing wage for the role and location. LCA certification typically takes seven to ten business days and must be completed first.

Find Service Technician at Google JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Service Technicians?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Service Technician roles. The role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning it requires at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant technical field. Google also sponsors H-1B1 and E-3 visas for eligible nationals, giving non-lottery pathways to candidates from Singapore, Chile, and Australia.
How do I apply for Service Technician jobs at Google?
Applications go through Google's careers site at careers.google.com. Search for Service Technician or Data Center Technician roles filtered by location. Tailor your resume to match the specific job family in the posting, emphasizing hardware, networking, or facilities skills as listed. Roles that confirm visa sponsorship can also be browsed through Migrate Mate, which filters for positions with a verified sponsorship track record.
Which visa types does Google commonly use for Service Technician roles?
Google uses the H-1B as its primary work visa for Service Technicians, supplemented by the H-1B1 for nationals from Singapore and Chile, and the E-3 for Australian citizens. The E-3 and H-1B1 are generally faster to obtain since they don't require winning the H-1B lottery. All three require a certified Labor Condition Application filed with the DOL before the visa petition is submitted.
What qualifications does Google expect for sponsored Service Technician roles?
Google typically looks for hands-on experience with enterprise hardware, structured cabling, networking equipment, or data center operations. Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or DCCA strengthen your profile. For H-1B sponsorship, the role must require a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in a relevant technical field, so documenting equivalent experience in years matters if you don't hold a four-year degree.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Google Service Technician offer?
For H-1B, Google must register you in the annual lottery each March, with cap-subject petitions filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date. E-3 and H-1B1 petitions move faster since there is no lottery. In all cases, DOL Labor Condition Application certification takes up to ten business days and must be completed before any petition is filed with USCIS.
