Certify technical credentials before applying
Cardinal Health's Service Technician roles often require proof of hands-on equipment maintenance experience. Gather documentation of any certifications, such as biomedical or electromechanical credentials, before submitting applications to avoid delays during credential verification.
Target distribution center locations strategically
Cardinal Health operates large distribution and pharmaceutical facilities across multiple states. Roles tied to high-volume distribution hubs are more likely to have active sponsorship pipelines, so prioritize locations with established operations when filtering openings.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsoring Service Technician roles
Not every Service Technician posting at Cardinal Health explicitly states visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to surface roles at Cardinal Health that have an active sponsorship history, so you're applying to positions where the process is already established.
Align your resume to DOL prevailing wage standards
Your offered salary must meet the DOL prevailing wage for your job title and work location. Frame your experience around the specific technical duties listed in the job description so your role classification supports the wage level your employer will certify.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the offer stage
Before signing an offer, confirm whether Cardinal Health will cover H-1B petition fees and whether premium processing is available. Large employers in distribution sometimes have tiered sponsorship policies depending on role criticality and hiring region.
Time your F-1 OPT application around the hiring cycle
If you're on F-1 OPT, Cardinal Health's distribution roles can be OPT-eligible, but STEM OPT extension approval from USCIS takes up to 90 days. Submit your extension application well before your standard OPT expires to avoid a work authorization gap during onboarding.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Cardinal Health sponsor H-1B visas for Service Technicians?
Yes, Cardinal Health sponsors H-1B visas for Service Technician roles. The company operates in a sector where specialized technical skills are in consistent demand, and it has an established process for supporting international hires through the H-1B petition cycle. Your role must qualify as a specialty occupation, which typically requires a relevant technical degree or its equivalent in field experience.
How do I apply for Service Technician jobs at Cardinal Health?
Apply directly through Cardinal Health's careers portal, searching for Service Technician openings filtered by location. Tailor your resume to reflect the specific equipment maintenance and distribution support duties listed in each posting. If you need to identify which roles actively support visa sponsorship, Migrate Mate filters Cardinal Health listings by sponsorship history so you can target the right openings from the start.
Which visa types are commonly used for Service Technician roles at Cardinal Health?
Cardinal Health sponsors H-1B visas as the primary long-term work visa for Service Technicians. The company also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students in technical programs, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for candidates seeking permanent residence after establishing a work history with the company.
What qualifications does Cardinal Health expect for Service Technician roles?
Cardinal Health typically looks for candidates with a background in mechanical, electrical, or biomedical equipment maintenance, often supported by an associate or bachelor's degree in a related field. Hands-on experience with automated distribution systems or pharmaceutical handling equipment is a strong differentiator. For H-1B eligibility specifically, your degree field must align closely with the technical duties described in the job posting.
How do I think about timing when pursuing sponsorship for a Service Technician role at Cardinal Health?
H-1B petitions can only be filed on April 1 for an October 1 start, so if you receive an offer outside that window, you may need to bridge your status using OPT or another visa category. Cardinal Health's onboarding timelines in distribution can move quickly, so clarify your intended start date and authorization status with the recruiter early to avoid a gap between your offer and your first day.
