Frame your credentials around technical program delivery
Google's Project Management Consultant roles sit at the intersection of software development cycles and business operations. Certifications like PMP or PRINCE2 help, but your resume needs to show you've managed technical workstreams, not just administrative projects.
Target teams with ongoing infrastructure programs
Google's Cloud, Platforms, and Maps divisions consistently run multi-year programs that require embedded consultants. Roles tied to these product lines tend to have longer project horizons, which matters when your employer is filing an H-1B on a fixed timeline.
Verify your visa type before accepting an offer
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for this role. If you're Australian on an E-3 or Singaporean on an H-1B1, confirm your category explicitly with the recruiter early. Each visa has different filing windows and wage level requirements under DOL prevailing wage rules.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open roles by visa type
Google posts Project Management Consultant openings across multiple teams simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles at Google that match your visa category, so you're not manually checking listings that don't lead to sponsorship.
Align your start date to the H-1B cap timeline
If you're applying from OPT and need cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, an October 1 start date is fixed. Work backward from there when negotiating your offer letter. Google's recruiting team is familiar with this constraint, but you need to raise it before the offer is finalized.
Request a Labor Condition Application preview before signing
Before you accept an offer, ask Google's immigration team which wage level the LCA will be filed at. DOL requires employers to pay at least the prevailing wage for your location and role. A Level I filing for a senior consulting role can create complications at USCIS adjudication.

Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Project Management Consultants?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Project Management Consultant roles. The company works with immigration counsel to handle the full filing process, including the Labor Condition Application with DOL and the I-129 petition with USCIS. If you're cap-subject, sponsorship depends on selection in the annual H-1B lottery, which opens in March for an October 1 start.
How do I apply for Project Management Consultant jobs at Google?
Applications go through Google's careers portal at careers.google.com. Search for 'Program Manager' or 'Project Management Consultant' and filter by location. Roles are posted across multiple teams, so check regularly. You can also browse open positions filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which surfaces Google listings relevant to your visa category.
Which visa types does Google commonly sponsor for Project Management Consultant roles?
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for this role. H-1B is the most broadly available. H-1B1 is specific to Singaporean and Chilean nationals and is filed directly without a lottery. E-3 is exclusive to Australian citizens and follows a consular process with a separate annual cap. Each category has different filing procedures and renewal timelines.
What qualifications does Google expect for Project Management Consultant positions?
Google typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, engineering, business, or information systems, combined with demonstrated experience managing complex technical programs. Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies, cross-functional stakeholder management, and data-driven decision-making are consistently reflected in job requirements across teams.
How do I understand the timeline for Google's visa filing process?
The timeline depends on your visa category. For H-1B, Google must file the I-129 petition after April 1 following lottery selection, with a mandatory October 1 start. For E-3 and H-1B1, filings can happen year-round with no lottery. USCIS premium processing is available and reduces adjudication to 15 business days. Confirm your specific timeline with Google's immigration team at the offer stage.
