Job Roles at ABB
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in ABB Green Card Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target engineering and technical roles
ABB's Green Card sponsorships cluster around electrical, mechanical, and automation engineering positions tied to its manufacturing operations. Focusing your application on these core technical functions gives you the strongest alignment with roles ABB has historically sponsored for permanent residence.
Understand the EB-2 vs. EB-3 distinction
ABB sponsors through both EB-2 and EB-3 pathways. EB-2 typically requires an advanced degree or exceptional ability, while EB-3 covers skilled workers with a bachelor's degree. Knowing which category fits your qualifications helps you frame your application and set realistic timeline expectations.
Get established before asking about Green Card
ABB generally initiates Green Card sponsorship after you've demonstrated value as an employee. Joining on an H-1B first, building credibility in your role, and establishing a track record within ABB's manufacturing teams is the most reliable path to triggering the PERM process.
Ask about sponsorship policy during offer negotiation
ABB's willingness to sponsor varies by business unit and hiring manager. Raise the topic during offer negotiation rather than after you've started. Confirm whether the specific team has sponsored Green Cards before and whether it's a written commitment in your offer documentation.
Search verified sponsors before applying
Not every ABB job listing will mention Green Card sponsorship explicitly. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you prioritize ABB roles in departments with a demonstrated record of filing Green Cards for employees.
Prepare for the PERM labor certification process
ABB's Green Card process begins with PERM, where the company must advertise the role and demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available. Understanding this recruitment phase helps you support the process and avoids surprises when your employer posts the job publicly as a procedural requirement.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does ABB sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, ABB sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees in the United States, primarily through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based categories. Sponsorship is most common in engineering, automation, and technical manufacturing roles. ABB initiates the process on behalf of employees rather than advertising Green Card sponsorship upfront in job listings.
Which roles and departments at ABB are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at ABB concentrates in technical and engineering functions tied to its core manufacturing business, including electrical engineering, automation systems, robotics, and industrial software. Corporate functions like finance, supply chain, and project management have less consistent sponsorship history, though it can occur depending on the business unit.
How does the Green Card application process work at ABB?
ABB typically begins the process with PERM labor certification, filed with the Department of Labor, which requires advertising the position and confirming no qualified U.S. workers are displaced. Once PERM is certified, ABB files an I-140 immigrant petition. If your priority date is current, you can then file for adjustment of status or consular processing.
How long does the Green Card process take at ABB?
The timeline varies significantly based on your visa category and country of birth. EB-2 and EB-3 applicants born outside of India or China can often complete the process in two to four years. Indian and Chinese nationals face much longer waits due to per-country backlogs that can stretch a decade or more, independent of ABB's filing pace.
How do I improve my chances of getting Green Card sponsorship at ABB?
Start by identifying ABB roles in engineering or technical manufacturing where sponsorship is most consistent, then confirm sponsorship intent during the hiring process rather than after joining. Migrate Mate can help you find verified ABB positions with a real sponsorship track record, so you're not guessing which teams actually follow through on Green Card filings.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at ABB?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
