Target engineering and technical roles
Affirm's Green Card sponsorship has historically concentrated in software engineering, data science, and infrastructure roles. If you're in a technical field within fintech, these departments are your strongest entry point for permanent residency support.
Clarify sponsorship intent during the offer stage
Green Card sponsorship discussions at Affirm are most productive once you have an offer in hand. Ask specifically whether your role is eligible for PERM-based sponsorship and what the typical timeline looks like within that team.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified Green Card roles
Not every open role at Affirm comes with Green Card sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you apply only to positions where permanent residency support is confirmed.
Account for country-specific backlogs in your planning
If you're from a country with high EB-2 or EB-3 demand, your priority date will significantly affect your timeline even after Affirm files your petition. Factor this into your long-term career and visa planning from the start.
Align your role with a specialty occupation requiring a specific degree
Green Card eligibility at Affirm depends partly on the role meeting specialty occupation standards. Roles in financial technology, machine learning, and compliance engineering in the Banking & Financial Services sector tend to meet this threshold reliably.
Affirm Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Affirm sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Affirm sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees. The company is an active Green Card sponsor in the Banking & Financial Services sector, with sponsorship concentrated in technical and engineering functions. Sponsorship is typically initiated after a period of employment and is subject to role eligibility and business need.
Which roles and departments at Affirm are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Software engineering, data engineering, machine learning, and infrastructure roles are the most consistently sponsored positions at Affirm. Product and finance roles may also qualify depending on degree requirements and job duties. Roles that clearly require a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a related technical field are the strongest candidates for PERM-based sponsorship.
How do I navigate the Green Card application process at Affirm?
Affirm typically manages Green Card cases through an in-house immigration team or outside counsel. The process generally follows PERM labor certification, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition, and then adjustment of status or consular processing. Your role is to work closely with the immigration contact assigned to your case and respond promptly to any documentation requests.
How long does the Green Card process take at Affirm?
The timeline depends on your visa category and country of birth. For most employees, the PERM and I-140 stages take one to two years. If you're from a country without a visa backlog, adjustment of status can follow relatively quickly. For nationals of high-demand countries, the total wait can extend considerably beyond that due to priority date backlogs.
How do I find Green Card jobs at Affirm that are open to sponsorship?
Start by searching Affirm's careers page and filtering for roles in technical departments. To confirm which listings come with verified Green Card sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which tracks sponsorship history by employer so you can identify roles where Affirm has a demonstrated record of supporting permanent residency. Applying to verified roles saves time and increases your chances of a productive conversation about sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Affirm?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
