Map your role to the right Green Card pathway
BlackRock sponsors across EB-1, EB-2, and EB-3 categories depending on the role. Quantitative researchers and senior technologists often qualify for EB-1 or EB-2 NIW, while EB-3 with PERM labor certification is more common for associate-level finance and operations hires.
Benchmark your salary against PERM wage levels
PERM requires your offered salary to meet DOL prevailing wage standards. Before your offer stage, use the OFLC Wage Search to check wage levels for your specific job title and location. A Level III or IV wage accelerates PERM approval and reduces audit risk significantly.
Target teams with established sponsorship patterns
BlackRock's technology, Aladdin engineering, and quantitative investment management divisions have longer histories of Green Card filings than corporate support functions. Prioritizing roles in these teams increases the likelihood your hiring manager is already familiar with the sponsorship process and timeline.
Raise Green Card sponsorship before accepting an offer
BlackRock's immigration decisions involve HR, legal, and business unit sign-off. Confirming Green Card sponsorship intent during the offer negotiation stage, not after you've started, avoids situations where it becomes a policy exception rather than a standard employment benefit.
Use Migrate Mate to identify BlackRock's active LCA filings
Migrate Mate surfaces BlackRock's DOL Labor Condition Application filing history by role and location, showing which job titles have active sponsorship. Use this data to target open positions where Green Card filing infrastructure is already in place before you apply.
Document your specialty occupation credentials for PERM
PERM requires the job to genuinely require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. For finance and technology roles at BlackRock, cross-reference your job description against the O*NET occupation profile for that title to confirm it meets specialty occupation standards before filing begins.
BlackRock Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does BlackRock sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, BlackRock sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees across technology, quantitative research, portfolio management, and risk functions. Sponsorship is typically initiated after a period of employment on a nonimmigrant visa such as H-1B visa or E-3 visa. Eligibility depends on your role, business unit, and whether your position meets PERM or EB-1 criteria.
Which roles and departments at BlackRock typically receive Green Card sponsorship?
Sponsorship is most consistent in BlackRock's technology and Aladdin engineering teams, quantitative investment and risk divisions, and senior finance roles. Corporate support functions receive sponsorship less frequently. Roles requiring specialized technical or financial expertise, particularly those tied to EB-2 or EB-1 criteria, have the strongest sponsorship track record at the firm.
How does the Green Card application process work at BlackRock?
BlackRock manages Green Card filings through its in-house immigration team alongside outside counsel. Most employees go through PERM labor certification first, followed by I-140 petition filing with USCIS. The process requires DOL to advertise your role to confirm no qualified U.S. workers are displaced. Your HR contact coordinates timelines and documentation requirements throughout.
How long does the Green Card process take for BlackRock employees?
Timeline depends heavily on your nationality and the Green Card category. PERM certification through DOL currently takes several months to over a year. After I-140 approval, applicants from high-demand countries like India and China face significantly longer priority date backlogs. USCIS processing updates and your priority date determine when you can file the final adjustment of status application.
How do I find open Green Card sponsorship jobs at BlackRock?
Migrate Mate filters BlackRock's open roles by verified Green Card sponsorship history, so you can see which teams and job titles have active LCA filings before applying. This is more reliable than filtering by self-reported sponsorship tags on general job boards, which frequently include roles that HR hasn't confirmed for Green Card sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at BlackRock?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
