Align your credentials with EB-2 requirements
Coherent's engineering and R&D roles often qualify for EB-2, which requires an advanced degree or exceptional ability. Pull your official transcripts, publication records, and any patents before applying so you can demonstrate EB-2 eligibility from day one.
Target roles in photonics and optical manufacturing
Coherent's core business spans compound semiconductors, laser components, and fiber optics. Roles in process engineering, optical design, and materials science are where the company has consistent hiring depth and where Green Card sponsorship conversations are most straightforward to initiate.
Understand how PERM shapes your timeline
Most EB-2 and EB-3 paths at manufacturing companies run through PERM, DOL's labor certification process. Coherent must advertise your role publicly and prove no qualified U.S. worker is available, so expect six to twelve months before your I-140 petition even reaches USCIS.
Use Migrate Mate to find Green Card filing history
Before applying, search Coherent's DOL and USCIS filing history on Migrate Mate. You'll see which job titles and locations have active sponsorship records, so you can focus your applications on roles where Green Card sponsorship is already an established pattern rather than a new ask.
Document your prevailing wage position early
PERM filings require Coherent to pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your occupation and location. Run your job title through the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating your offer so you know the wage floor and can confirm the offer will clear the DOL threshold without issues.
Negotiate sponsorship commitment in your offer letter
Verbal assurances aren't binding once you're onboarded. Ask HR to include explicit Green Card sponsorship language in your written offer, specifying which EB category Coherent intends to file under and the expected timeline to I-140 filing after your start date.
Coherent Corp. Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Coherent Corp. sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Coherent Corp. sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees in technical and engineering roles across its U.S. manufacturing and R&D operations. Sponsorship typically runs through the EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based categories, depending on the role's degree requirements and the candidate's qualifications.
Which roles at Coherent Corp. typically receive Green Card sponsorship?
Sponsorship is most common in engineering disciplines tied to Coherent's core product lines, including optical engineering, process engineering, semiconductor manufacturing, and materials science. Research and development roles, quality engineering, and advanced manufacturing positions are also consistent areas where Coherent has historically supported Green Card filings.
How do I start the Green Card process at Coherent Corp.?
Raise sponsorship directly with the recruiting team or your hiring manager before or during offer negotiation. Once Coherent agrees to sponsor, HR works with immigration counsel to determine the appropriate EB category, initiates the PERM labor certification with DOL if required, and then files the I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS after PERM is certified.
How long does the Green Card process take at Coherent Corp.?
For EB-2 and EB-3 routes, expect the PERM labor certification alone to take six to twelve months. After PERM approval, Coherent files an I-140 with USCIS. If your priority date is current, you can file for adjustment of status concurrently. Total timelines vary significantly based on your country of birth and visa bulletin movement.
How do I find open roles at Coherent Corp. that include Green Card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate surfaces Coherent Corp. job listings alongside the company's verified DOL and USCIS filing history, so you can identify which roles and locations have an established track record of Green Card sponsorship. Filter for Coherent directly and look for engineering and manufacturing openings in their U.S. facilities.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Coherent Corp.?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
