Target corporate and technology roles
Dollar General's Green Card sponsorship is concentrated in its corporate offices and technology teams, not store-level positions. Focus your search on IT, supply chain, finance, and merchandising roles at their Goodlettsville, Tennessee headquarters.
Understand the PERM process before applying
Green Card sponsorship at Dollar General follows the PERM labor certification route, which requires your employer to document that no qualified U.S. workers are available. Knowing this timeline upfront helps you set realistic expectations during salary and offer negotiations.
Start the conversation early in the hiring process
Green Card sponsorship rarely gets discussed spontaneously. Raise it directly after receiving an offer, once the employer has already decided you're the right candidate. Asking too early can raise concerns; asking too late can delay filing significantly.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsoring roles
Not every Dollar General job listing will mention Green Card sponsorship explicitly. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you identify which roles and departments have an actual track record of filing.
Align your background with hard-to-fill specializations
PERM requires Dollar General to show the role couldn't be filled locally. Specializations in areas like enterprise systems, data analytics, or supply chain optimization strengthen your position because they make the 'no qualified U.S. workers' requirement easier for the employer to document.
Ask specifically about EB-2 versus EB-3 classification
Dollar General sponsors through both EB-2 and EB-3 categories depending on the role's degree requirements. If your position qualifies for EB-2, the priority date queue may move faster for your country of birth, so it's worth clarifying before filing begins.
Dollar General Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Dollar General sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Dollar General sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying corporate and technical roles. Sponsorship is not available for retail store positions and is concentrated in departments like information technology, supply chain, finance, and merchandising at the company's corporate headquarters in Goodlettsville, Tennessee.
Which roles and departments at Dollar General typically receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Dollar General is almost exclusively available in corporate functions. Roles in software engineering, data and analytics, supply chain management, merchandising, and finance are the most commonly sponsored. Store operations, distribution center hourly roles, and field management positions are generally not eligible for Green Card sponsorship.
How do I navigate the Green Card application process at Dollar General?
Dollar General follows the standard employer-sponsored Green Card route: PERM labor certification filed with the Department of Labor, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS, and finally adjustment of status or consular processing once a visa number is available. Dollar General's HR and immigration counsel handle the PERM and I-140 filings on your behalf.
How long does the Green Card process take at Dollar General?
The timeline depends heavily on your country of birth and the visa category. PERM certification alone can take six months to over a year. For applicants born in India or China, the EB-2 and EB-3 backlogs can extend the total process by many years after the I-140 is approved. Applicants from most other countries face significantly shorter waits.
How do I find Green Card jobs at Dollar General that actually sponsor?
Job listings rarely state Green Card sponsorship explicitly, which makes it difficult to identify the right openings. Migrate Mate filters employers by verified sponsorship history, so you can find Dollar General roles where sponsorship has actually been filed before. Focus on corporate and technical job families, and confirm sponsorship intent directly with the recruiter during the offer stage.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Dollar General?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
