Target engineering and technical roles first
La-Z-Boy's Green Card filings concentrate in roles requiring specialized technical skills, particularly in manufacturing engineering, product development, and operations. Prioritize applications for positions where your credentials directly map to a specific degree requirement, which strengthens the PERM labor certification case.
Distinguish your EB-2 versus EB-3 eligibility
EB-2 requires a job that demands an advanced degree or exceptional ability, while EB-3 covers skilled workers with a bachelor's degree. In manufacturing, many hands-on engineering roles qualify under EB-3, so confirm with your hiring manager which category La-Z-Boy intends to file under before accepting an offer.
Align your credentials to PERM documentation requirements
PERM requires La-Z-Boy to prove no qualified U.S. worker is available for your role. Prepare transcripts, foreign credential evaluations, and employment verification letters early. If your degree is from outside the U.S., a credential evaluation matching it to a U.S. equivalent strengthens the DOL audit trail considerably.
Negotiate sponsorship intent before accepting an offer
La-Z-Boy's HR and legal teams initiate PERM, but they won't always raise Green Card sponsorship during recruitment. Ask directly whether the role is approved for permanent residence sponsorship and confirm the expected timeline before you sign, since not all manufacturing positions are pre-cleared for filing.
Use Migrate Mate to verify La-Z-Boy's sponsorship history
Before applying, use Migrate Mate to review La-Z-Boy's Green Card filing history by role and location. Seeing which job titles and departments have been sponsored helps you target the right openings and enter salary negotiations with an informed view of the prevailing wage for your occupation.
Check prevailing wage before your salary discussion
PERM requires La-Z-Boy to pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Run your job title and ZIP code through the OFLC Wage Search before your offer conversation. If the offered salary is below the prevailing wage level, the PERM filing cannot proceed regardless of employer intent.
La-Z-Boy Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does La-Z-Boy sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, La-Z-Boy sponsors Green Cards for qualifying employees, primarily through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based pathways. Sponsorship is typically offered in technical, engineering, and manufacturing operations roles where the position requires specialized skills or an advanced degree. Not every role is pre-approved for sponsorship, so confirm eligibility directly with the hiring team during the offer stage.
Which roles and departments at La-Z-Boy typically receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at La-Z-Boy tends to concentrate in manufacturing engineering, product development, operations, and quality assurance functions. These roles often carry degree requirements that support EB-2 or EB-3 classification under PERM. Corporate functions in finance, IT, and supply chain may also qualify, but sponsorship approval depends on the specific job requirements and business need at the time of filing.
How does the Green Card application process work at La-Z-Boy?
La-Z-Boy initiates the process by filing a PERM labor certification with the DOL, which requires demonstrating that no qualified U.S. worker is available for your role. Once PERM is certified, La-Z-Boy files an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. After approval, you either adjust status inside the U.S. or complete consular processing abroad, depending on your current visa status.
How long does the Green Card process take at La-Z-Boy?
The PERM stage alone typically takes six to twelve months, followed by USCIS adjudication of the I-140 petition. Your total timeline then depends on your country of birth and the EB preference category, since workers born in countries with high demand face priority date backlogs that can extend the process significantly beyond the initial filing stages.
How do I find open Green Card jobs at La-Z-Boy?
Search Migrate Mate to filter La-Z-Boy job listings by visa sponsorship type, including Green Card-eligible roles. Cross-reference openings against the company's historical filing patterns by department to identify which positions are most likely to include permanent residence sponsorship. Applying to roles where La-Z-Boy has a documented filing history in your occupation improves your chances of a successful sponsorship conversation.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at La-Z-Boy?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
