Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding McDonald's Green Card Jobs
Target corporate and tech roles, not restaurant operations
McDonald's Green Card sponsorship is concentrated in its corporate headquarters and technology divisions. Roles in software engineering, data analytics, supply chain, and finance are far more likely to receive sponsorship than positions tied to restaurant management.
Understand the PERM labor certification process
Green Card sponsorship at McDonald's starts with PERM, where the company must prove no qualified U.S. worker is available. Expect a recruitment period before your petition is filed, and be prepared to document your qualifications thoroughly throughout the process.
Get on the EB-2 or EB-3 track early
Most employer-sponsored Green Cards at large Food & Beverage companies like McDonald's fall under EB-2 or EB-3. Discuss your category eligibility with HR during the offer stage, as the track affects your priority date and overall Green Card timeline significantly.
Demonstrate skills that are genuinely hard to fill domestically
PERM approval depends on McDonald's demonstrating a domestic recruitment shortage for your role. Candidates with specialized skills in enterprise technology, food science, or global supply chain are in a stronger position because those roles are harder to fill with U.S. applicants alone.
Build tenure before requesting sponsorship
Companies in the Food & Beverage sector, including McDonald's, typically sponsor Green Cards for employees who've proven their value internally. Starting on F-1 OPT or H-1B and demonstrating strong performance before requesting sponsorship significantly improves your chances of approval.
Use verified sponsorship data when job searching
Not every McDonald's job listing will mention Green Card sponsorship upfront. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you prioritize roles where Green Card sponsorship is a realistic outcome rather than an assumption.
McDonald's Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does McDonald's sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, McDonald's sponsors Green Card visas, primarily for corporate and technology roles at its U.S. headquarters. Sponsorship is selective and concentrated in specialized functions such as software engineering, data analytics, finance, and supply chain. Restaurant-level and general management positions rarely receive Green Card sponsorship, so candidates should focus their search on corporate career tracks.
Which roles and departments at McDonald's are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at McDonald's is most common in its technology, digital, finance, and global supply chain divisions. Roles requiring specialized technical expertise, such as software engineers, data scientists, and systems architects, are the strongest candidates. Corporate functions at the Oak Brook or Chicago headquarters are where the overwhelming majority of sponsored positions are based.
How does the Green Card application process work at McDonald's?
McDonald's initiates the process with PERM labor certification, where the company must conduct a formal recruitment effort and demonstrate no qualified U.S. worker is available for the role. Once PERM is approved, McDonald's files an immigrant petition on your behalf, typically under EB-2 or EB-3. You or your immigration attorney then file for adjustment of status or consular processing depending on your situation.
How long does the Green Card process take at McDonald's?
The timeline varies considerably depending on your visa category and country of birth. The PERM stage alone can take a year or more, and if you were born in India or China, visa backlogs in EB-2 and EB-3 can extend the overall wait by years. Applicants born in other countries, including Australia or the UK, typically face much shorter waits once the petition is approved.
How do I improve my chances of getting Green Card sponsorship at McDonald's?
The strongest approach is to join McDonald's on a nonimmigrant work visa, such as H-1B visa or F-1 OPT, build a track record of performance in a specialized role, and raise sponsorship during your career development conversations rather than at hiring. Migrate Mate can help you identify open roles at McDonald's where sponsorship is a realistic outcome based on verified filing history, so you're targeting positions with a genuine path forward.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at McDonald's?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
