Job Roles at Novelis
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Novelis Green Card Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target engineering and technical roles
Novelis's Green Card sponsorships tend to concentrate in engineering, operations, and manufacturing technology functions. When applying, prioritize roles that require specialized technical expertise, as these positions align most closely with the company's EB-2 and EB-3 filing patterns.
Understand the PERM labor certification process
Most Novelis Green Card cases begin with PERM labor certification through the Department of Labor. This process can take a year or more before an I-140 petition is even filed, so expect a multi-year timeline from employment start to Green Card approval.
Get on H-1B or TN status first
Novelis sponsors both H-1B and TN visas, which are common entry points before Green Card sponsorship begins. Securing a nonimmigrant work visa role first gives you the opportunity to demonstrate value and initiate the permanent residence conversation with your manager or HR.
Raise Green Card sponsorship during or after the offer stage
Immigration benefits at large manufacturers like Novelis are typically negotiated at the offer stage or during your first performance review. Asking early sets expectations and gives HR time to engage immigration counsel before your nonimmigrant status runs short.
Use verified sponsorship data when job searching
Not every Novelis job posting will mention Green Card sponsorship explicitly. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you focus your applications on roles where permanent residence support is genuinely on the table.
Factor in priority date backlogs if you're from India or China
Novelis files under EB-2 and EB-3, but applicants born in India or China face significant priority date backlogs in both categories. Even after an approved I-140, the wait for an available visa number can extend well beyond the PERM and petition timelines themselves.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Novelis sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Novelis sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees. The company files under EB-2 and EB-3 categories, primarily for engineering, manufacturing, and technical roles. Sponsorship is typically offered to employees who are already working at Novelis on a nonimmigrant visa such as H-1B or TN, rather than at the initial hiring stage.
Which roles and departments at Novelis are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Novelis is most common in engineering disciplines, manufacturing operations, process technology, and materials science. Roles requiring a specialized bachelor's or master's degree in a technical field tend to qualify under EB-2 or EB-3. Corporate functions such as finance and IT may also be eligible, though sponsorship is less consistent outside core technical departments.
How does the Green Card application process work at Novelis?
The process typically starts with PERM labor certification, where Novelis works with immigration counsel to conduct a supervised recruitment process and demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available for the role. Once PERM is certified by the Department of Labor, Novelis files an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. After approval, you wait for your priority date to become current before filing for adjustment of status or consular processing.
How long does it take to get a Green Card through Novelis?
The timeline depends on the visa category and your country of birth. For most applicants, PERM labor certification alone takes one to two years. After that, I-140 processing and priority date availability can add significant additional time, particularly for nationals of India or China facing EB-2 and EB-3 backlogs. Plan for a multi-year process from the start of sponsorship to final approval.
How do I find open Green Card jobs at Novelis?
Search Novelis's careers page and filter for engineering, operations, and technical roles, which are the most likely to come with Green Card sponsorship. Migrate Mate is a useful starting point because it identifies employers with verified Green Card filing histories, letting you confirm that Novelis is actively sponsoring before you invest time in the application process.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Novelis?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
