Job Roles at United Airlines
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in United Airlines Green Card Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target technical and engineering roles
United Airlines Green Card sponsorship tends to concentrate in specialized functions like aircraft maintenance engineering, IT systems, and operations technology. These roles require credentials that are harder to fill domestically, making them stronger candidates for employer-sponsored permanent residence.
Understand the PERM labor certification process
Green Card sponsorship at United Airlines begins with PERM, where the company must demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available. Knowing this process helps you position your skills as genuinely specialized and harder to replace, which strengthens the employer's case.
Build tenure before expecting sponsorship
Most airlines, including United, prefer to sponsor employees who have demonstrated performance and commitment. Starting on H-1B or TN status and proving your value over one to two years significantly improves your chances of being put forward for Green Card sponsorship.
Ask about sponsorship policy during the offer stage
United Airlines recruiter conversations are the right moment to clarify whether a specific role has a sponsorship pathway. Asking directly about Green Card eligibility after an offer is made is more effective than raising it earlier in the hiring process.
Focus on roles where your degree is a hard requirement
Green Card sponsorship under EB-2 or EB-3 requires the position to have a defined educational or experience requirement. Roles at United Airlines where a specific degree is mandatory, not merely preferred, are far easier to sponsor under PERM than generalist positions.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsoring roles
Not every United Airlines job posting mentions Green Card sponsorship upfront. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you focus your applications on positions with an actual pathway to permanent residence.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does United Airlines sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, United Airlines sponsors Green Card visas for eligible employees, primarily through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based categories. Sponsorship is selective and typically reserved for specialized roles in engineering, information technology, and aviation operations where the company has identified a long-term retention need. Not every position qualifies, so confirming sponsorship eligibility during the hiring process is important.
Which departments at United Airlines are most likely to offer Green Card sponsorship?
Technical operations, IT and digital technology, and flight operations support functions are the departments where Green Card sponsorship is most commonly pursued at United Airlines. These areas require specialized credentials that are harder to source domestically, which satisfies the PERM labor market test more readily than generalist corporate roles.
How do I start the Green Card process at United Airlines?
The process typically begins with your hiring manager and HR business partner confirming the role qualifies for sponsorship. United Airlines then works with its immigration counsel to file a PERM labor certification with the Department of Labor. Once certified, an I-140 immigrant petition is filed with USCIS. The entire sequence requires active coordination between you, HR, and legal counsel.
How long does the Green Card process take at United Airlines?
Timeline depends on your priority date and country of birth. For most nationalities, the process from PERM filing through I-485 approval takes two to four years under EB-3, and can be faster under EB-2. Applicants born in India or China face significantly longer waits due to visa backlogs. Starting the process early in your employment is strongly advisable.
How do I find United Airlines jobs that include Green Card sponsorship?
Most United Airlines job postings do not explicitly confirm Green Card sponsorship in the listing. Migrate Mate helps by aggregating roles from verified sponsoring employers, so you can search United Airlines openings with confidence that sponsorship history is real. Combining that with direct outreach to United's talent acquisition team about specific roles gives you the clearest picture of what's available.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at United Airlines?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
