Target technical and engineering roles
United Rentals is most likely to sponsor Green Cards for specialized roles in engineering, fleet management, and technology. These positions align with the company's long-term workforce needs in the Rental and Leasing industry, making sponsorship more viable.
Demonstrate long-term commitment early
Green Card sponsorship requires significant employer investment. During interviews, emphasize your career trajectory and interest in growing within United Rentals specifically, companies in capital-intensive industries prioritize retention when deciding to sponsor permanent residency.
Understand the PERM labor certification process
Most Green Card cases at large employers like United Rentals begin with PERM, a Department of Labor process that can take a year or more before USCIS filing even begins. Setting realistic timeline expectations from the start prevents surprises.
Raise sponsorship in the offer negotiation stage
The best time to discuss Green Card sponsorship is after you have an offer, not during early interviews. At that stage, United Rentals has already decided it wants you, giving you the strongest position to ask about permanent residency support.
Search for roles already linked to sponsorship history
Not all United Rentals positions have equal sponsorship likelihood. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you focus on the job categories where United Rentals has actually filed before.
Align your application with high-retention departments
United Rentals divisions with higher turnover are less likely to sponsor Green Cards. Focus on corporate functions, technology, and specialized equipment services where the company has stronger incentives to invest in long-term immigration support for valued employees.
United Rentals Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does United Rentals sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, United Rentals does sponsor Green Card visas for certain roles. Sponsorship is not offered across all positions and is typically reserved for specialized professionals in technical, engineering, or corporate functions where the company has a strong retention interest. Candidates should confirm sponsorship availability directly during the hiring process.
Which roles and departments at United Rentals are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at United Rentals tends to be concentrated in roles requiring specialized expertise, such as engineers, technology professionals, and corporate operations staff. Positions in fleet management, IT, and business analytics are among those where the company has historically shown interest in supporting long-term immigration pathways for skilled hires.
How does the Green Card application process work at a company like United Rentals?
For most employer-sponsored Green Cards, the process begins with PERM labor certification filed with the Department of Labor, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS, and finally adjustment of status or consular processing. United Rentals works with immigration counsel to manage these steps, but the overall process spans multiple years depending on your country of birth and priority date.
How long does it take to get a Green Card through United Rentals sponsorship?
The timeline varies significantly based on your visa category and country of birth. For nationals of countries without significant backlogs, employer-sponsored Green Cards can take two to five years from PERM filing to approval. For Indian or Chinese nationals in EB-2 or EB-3 categories, current backlogs can extend the wait considerably longer. Starting early in your employment is important.
How do I find Green Card jobs at United Rentals that are open to sponsorship?
Job listings rarely specify Green Card sponsorship availability upfront, which makes it difficult to filter through general job boards. Migrate Mate is built specifically for this use case, aggregating roles from verified sponsoring employers like United Rentals so you can identify positions where sponsorship is a realistic outcome rather than guessing from a standard job description.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at United Rentals?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
