Align your credentials to actuarial or risk roles
Aon's H-1B filings cluster heavily in actuarial, risk consulting, and analytics functions. Before applying, verify your degree field maps directly to the specialty occupation definition for your target role, a mismatch here triggers RFEs that delay or derail the petition.
Research prevailing wage before your salary negotiation
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for your specific job title and work location before any offer conversation. Aon's LCA must certify a wage at or above that level, so knowing the floor protects you from underpayment and speeds filing.
Target Aon's internal mobility for cap-exempt transfers
If you're already on H-1B with another employer, Aon can file an H-1B transfer outside the annual lottery. Confirm Aon's HR team is familiar with portability rules under AC21, which let you start working at Aon once the transfer petition is filed and receipt issued.
Use Migrate Mate to verify Aon's sponsorship history
Before investing time in Aon's application process, check Migrate Mate to review the company's DOL Labor Condition Application filing history by role and location. This shows which specific job titles Aon has sponsored and which offices file most actively for H-1B positions.
Prepare your specialty occupation documentation early
Aon roles in consulting and insurance analytics often require a degree in a specific field like mathematics, statistics, or finance. Gather transcripts, credential evaluations for foreign degrees, and any professional certifications before you reach the offer stage so USCIS documentation doesn't become a bottleneck.
Confirm H-1B lottery timing with your recruiter
If you're not currently on H-1B status, Aon must register you in the USCIS H-1B lottery each April for an October 1 start date. Raise this with your recruiter during the offer stage, not after signing, so both sides plan around the cap-subject timeline accurately.
Aon H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Aon sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Aon sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles, particularly in actuarial science, risk consulting, data analytics, and technology. Sponsorship is not guaranteed for every open position, so confirm directly with your recruiter whether the specific role you're applying for is eligible for H-1B filing before advancing through the interview process.
Which departments at Aon are most likely to offer H-1B sponsorship?
Aon's actuarial, risk consulting, data and analytics, and technology teams are the most consistent sources of H-1B filings. Corporate functions and client-facing consulting roles with quantitative or specialized financial requirements also appear in Aon's sponsorship history. General support or administrative roles are less commonly sponsored.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Aon?
Once Aon extends an offer and confirms sponsorship, their immigration counsel files a Labor Condition Application with DOL and then submits Form I-129 to USCIS. Your role is to provide accurate documentation, including your degree credentials and employment history. USCIS processes standard petitions within several months, with premium processing available for faster adjudication.
How do I find open H-1B roles at Aon that match my background?
Migrate Mate lets you filter Aon job listings by role type and visa sponsorship history, so you can focus on positions where H-1B filings have already occurred. Cross-referencing Aon's active postings with their DOL LCA filing history by occupation gives you a realistic picture of where sponsorship is genuinely available.
What timeline should I expect for H-1B sponsorship at Aon?
For cap-subject cases, USCIS opens H-1B registration in March, with an October 1 start date if selected. The full cycle from offer to authorized start can span six months or more. For H-1B transfers from another employer, USCIS receipt of the petition typically allows you to begin work at Aon under portability rules, with final approval following later.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Aon?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
