Target engineering and project management roles
Balfour Beatty's H-1B filings concentrate in technical disciplines like civil engineering, structural engineering, and project controls. Applying to roles outside these core areas significantly reduces your sponsorship chances, so align your application to positions where your degree field directly matches the job requirements.
Verify your specialty occupation qualification early
Construction and real estate roles must meet USCIS's specialty occupation standard, requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Review the job description carefully before applying and confirm your degree field maps specifically to the posted role, not just the broader industry.
Research prevailing wage tiers using OFLC Wage Search
Balfour Beatty must certify your offered salary meets DOL prevailing wage requirements before filing your H-1B petition. Use OFLC Wage Search to look up the wage level for your occupation and location so you can assess whether the offer is likely to clear the DOL certification threshold.
Use Migrate Mate to find Balfour Beatty H-1B openings
Searching broadly across job boards makes it easy to miss roles where Balfour Beatty has a demonstrated H-1B sponsorship pattern. Migrate Mate filters job listings by verified H-1B filing history, so you can target positions where sponsorship is a realistic outcome rather than an uncertain possibility.
Raise H-1B sponsorship in the offer stage not earlier
Bringing up H-1B sponsorship before you have a formal offer can stall a Balfour Beatty recruitment process. Wait until you've received a written offer, then confirm directly with HR whether their current hiring cycle includes H-1B petition filing and whether premium processing is available to meet your start date.
Account for the H-1B cap lottery in your timeline
Unless Balfour Beatty files through a cap-exempt entity, your petition must go through the annual USCIS lottery, with registration opening in March and employment starting no earlier than October 1. Build this into conversations with your hiring manager so project staffing plans reflect the realistic activation date.
Balfour Beatty H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Balfour Beatty sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Balfour Beatty sponsors H-1B visas for qualified international professionals. Sponsorship is selective and concentrated in technical roles across engineering, construction management, and infrastructure project delivery. The company goes through the standard employer-sponsored H-1B process, including Labor Condition Application filing with DOL and petition submission to USCIS.
Which roles at Balfour Beatty are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Balfour Beatty is most commonly associated with roles requiring specialized technical degrees, including civil engineers, structural engineers, project managers, and construction project controls professionals. Positions that require a specific bachelor's degree in a directly related field are better positioned to meet USCIS's specialty occupation standard than generalist or trade-based roles.
How do I start the H-1B application process at Balfour Beatty?
The process begins with securing a job offer. Once Balfour Beatty extends an offer, their HR or immigration team initiates the Labor Condition Application with DOL, then files the H-1B petition with USCIS. You'll need to provide your educational credentials, passport details, and any prior immigration records. Your role is to respond promptly to document requests throughout the filing window.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at Balfour Beatty?
Timeline depends on when in the fiscal year your offer is made. For cap-subject petitions, USCIS registration opens in March and approved petitions have an earliest start date of October 1. Standard processing runs several months after filing. If Balfour Beatty opts for premium processing, USCIS adjudicates within a defined expedited window. Plan for a total lead time of several months from offer to authorization.
How do I find open H-1B jobs at Balfour Beatty?
Migrate Mate lists Balfour Beatty roles filtered by verified H-1B sponsorship history, making it easier to identify positions where sponsorship is a realistic outcome. You can also monitor Balfour Beatty's careers page directly and filter for engineering and project management openings. Prioritize roles where the job description requires a specific technical degree, as those are most likely to qualify for H-1B sponsorship under USCIS criteria.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Balfour Beatty?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
