Job Roles at Gap
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Gap H-1B Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Focus on corporate, not store-level roles
Gap's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated at its corporate headquarters in San Francisco and tech hubs, not retail locations. Target roles in software engineering, data analytics, merchandising, and supply chain planning when applying.
Understand Gap Inc.'s brand structure
Gap Inc. operates multiple brands including Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Athleta. H-1B petitions are filed under the parent company, so searching across all brands increases your exposure to sponsored openings within the same corporate structure.
Engage recruiting early in the process
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October start. Contact Gap's recruiting team early and confirm sponsorship willingness before investing time in interviews, as internal approval processes take several weeks.
Highlight technical specialization relevant to retail
Gap values H-1B candidates who bring specialized skills in areas like retail technology, inventory optimization, or e-commerce engineering. Framing your experience around retail-specific applications strengthens the specialty occupation case for your petition.
Verify sponsorship history before applying
Not every open role at Gap will come with H-1B sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, saving time by identifying which roles and departments have an established track record.
Negotiate the offer with visa costs in mind
Gap covers H-1B filing and attorney fees as part of the sponsorship process, but confirm this during offer negotiation. Understanding what the company covers versus what falls to you helps avoid surprises after you've accepted a role.

Does Gap sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Gap sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying corporate roles. Sponsorship is focused on positions in software engineering, data science, merchandise planning, and supply chain operations at its corporate offices. Retail store positions do not typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship, as they generally do not meet the specialty occupation requirement.
Which departments at Gap are most likely to sponsor H-1B visas?
Technology and engineering teams represent the strongest H-1B sponsorship pipeline at Gap, covering roles in software development, data analytics, and e-commerce platforms. Corporate functions in finance, merchandise planning, and supply chain management also sponsor H-1B visas when the role requires a degree in a specific field directly tied to the job duties.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Gap?
Once Gap extends an offer, its legal team or an outside immigration attorney files the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor, followed by the H-1B petition with USCIS. The process requires your educational credentials, employment details, and prevailing wage documentation. Gap typically manages the filing on your behalf, but staying responsive to document requests keeps the timeline on track.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take at Gap?
The timeline depends on where you are in the cap cycle. If you're subject to the annual H-1B lottery, expect to wait until October 1 of the fiscal year following your April filing before you can begin work on H-1B status. Premium processing can shorten the USCIS adjudication window to a few weeks, but the April registration deadline and October start date are fixed by statute.
How do I find H-1B sponsored jobs at Gap?
Start by searching Gap Inc.'s careers site and filtering for corporate roles in your area of expertise. For a more targeted approach, Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for H-1B sponsored openings at Gap and other verified sponsors, so you're not guessing which listings will actually support your visa. Apply directly through the official careers portal once you've identified a strong fit.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Gap?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
