Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
Johnson Brothers sponsors H-1B roles that meet USCIS's specialty occupation threshold, meaning your degree must directly relate to the job. For construction and real estate roles, a degree in civil engineering, architecture, or construction management strengthens your petition considerably more than a general business credential.
Target engineering and project management openings
H-1B sponsorship at Johnson Brothers concentrates in technical functions like structural engineering, project controls, and estimating. Applying to these roles gives you a stronger case than pursuing administrative or field labor positions, which rarely meet the degree-requirement threshold USCIS applies to specialty occupations.
Verify the prevailing wage before your offer stage
Before accepting any offer, run your job title and work location through the OFLC Wage Search to confirm the prevailing wage level. Johnson Brothers must certify your salary meets or exceeds this figure on the Labor Condition Application, so knowing the number protects you from accepting an offer that could stall the filing.
Use Migrate Mate to check Johnson Brothers's LCA filing history
Pull Johnson Brothers's Labor Condition Application history through Migrate Mate before your interview. Seeing which job titles and wage levels they've certified for H-1B in construction and real estate tells you what roles realistically convert to sponsorship and what salary benchmarks the company has previously committed to.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting any offer
H-1B sponsorship requires the employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Ask Johnson Brothers's HR team to confirm enrollment status early in your offer discussions. Cap-exempt employers aside, any company filing an H-1B petition must use E-Verify, and confirming this upfront prevents late-stage surprises that delay your start date.
Register for the H-1B lottery with your offer secured
Johnson Brothers files H-1B petitions under the annual cap, which means your registration window is March each year for an October 1 start. Having your job offer and role documentation finalized before the registration period opens gives your employer enough lead time to submit your registration without a rushed review.
Johnson Brothers H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Johnson Brothers sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Johnson Brothers sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles in construction and real estate. Sponsorship focuses on positions that meet USCIS's specialty occupation definition, typically engineering, project management, and technical roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. You'll need a qualifying job offer before the company can initiate the filing process.
Which roles at Johnson Brothers typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Johnson Brothers is concentrated in technical and professional functions, including civil engineering, structural engineering, construction management, and project controls. These roles satisfy the specialty occupation requirement because they demand a degree in a specific discipline. Field labor and general administrative positions rarely qualify under USCIS standards.
How do I start the H-1B application process at Johnson Brothers?
The process starts with securing a job offer for a qualifying role. Johnson Brothers then files a Labor Condition Application with DOL and, once certified, submits the H-1B petition to USCIS after you're selected in the annual lottery. You can review their past LCA filings and sponsored job titles through Migrate Mate to understand which roles convert to sponsorship.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take at Johnson Brothers?
The full timeline from lottery registration to employment authorization typically spans six to eight months for cap-subject filings. Registration opens in March, selections are announced by late March or April, and approved petitions take effect October 1. Premium processing is available and can reduce USCIS's adjudication window to a few weeks, though DOL's LCA certification adds additional time beforehand.
How do I strengthen my H-1B application for a role at Johnson Brothers?
Make sure your degree field directly matches your target role, since USCIS scrutinizes the degree-to-job connection closely in construction and real estate. Document any specialized experience in project delivery, engineering analysis, or technical design. Having your employer reference your O*NET occupation profile in the petition also helps establish specialty occupation status for construction-sector roles.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Johnson Brothers?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
