Align your coursework with Hill's project controls focus
Hill recruits interns into cost engineering, scheduling, and claims management functions. Highlighting relevant coursework in construction management, civil engineering, or project finance makes your application directly relevant to the roles they actually fill.
Confirm your OPT authorization window before applying
F-1 students on pre-completion CPT or post-graduation OPT need to verify their work authorization aligns with Hill's internship start dates. USCIS processing for OPT EAD cards can take 3 to 5 months, so apply to USCIS well before your intended start.
Target Hill's infrastructure and owner's representative divisions
Hill's internship hiring concentrates in project and program management services for public sector infrastructure clients. Applying to roles tied to transportation, government facilities, or energy programs improves your odds of landing a team that regularly sponsors international talent.
Ask recruiters explicitly about H-1B conversion pathways
When you receive an internship offer, confirm whether Hill has a process for converting high-performing interns to full-time roles with H-1B sponsorship. Companies that sponsor H-1B petitions for full-time hires often have internal policies about intern-to-hire pipelines worth clarifying early.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open intern roles by location
Hill posts intern openings across multiple U.S. offices, and sponsorship-eligible roles aren't always labeled clearly. Use Migrate Mate to filter Hill International internship listings by visa type so you're only spending time on roles that match your authorization status.
Prepare a CPT authorization letter before the offer stage
If you're applying as a current student using CPT, coordinate with your Designated School Official early. Hill's onboarding team will need your CPT authorization letter before your start date, and delays on the school side can push back your first day.

Find Intern at Hill International JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Hill International sponsor H-1B visas for Interns?
Hill International does sponsor H-1B visas, though sponsorship at the intern level is typically tied to full-time conversion rather than the internship itself. Interns who perform well and are brought on as full-time employees in eligible specialty occupations, such as project controls, engineering, or program management, are more likely to be considered for H-1B sponsorship through the annual USCIS lottery process.
How do I apply for Intern jobs at Hill International?
Applications for Hill International intern roles are submitted through their careers portal, where openings are listed by office location and service line. Filtering by internship or early-career role types helps narrow results. Migrate Mate also indexes Hill's open intern positions and lets you filter specifically for roles that support visa sponsorship, which saves time if you need work authorization to be in place before you start.
Which visa types are commonly used for Intern roles at Hill International?
Most international interns at Hill International work under F-1 CPT during their degree program or F-1 OPT after graduation. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. For longer-term paths, Hill has also sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 green card categories for employees who began as interns and transitioned to full-time roles in construction management or project controls functions.
What qualifications does Hill International expect from intern candidates?
Hill International typically targets students enrolled in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or related programs for internship roles. Familiarity with scheduling tools like Primavera P6 or cost management software is a practical differentiator. Roles in program controls and project oversight often expect candidates who can read contracts, track budgets, or support claims documentation, even at the intern level.
How do I time my application around visa processing if I need work authorization?
F-1 students using OPT should submit their EAD application to USCIS at least 90 days before their intended start date, since processing can take several months. For CPT, your university must authorize the specific employer and dates before you begin work. Aligning Hill's internship start dates with your authorization window, and confirming those dates with your recruiter during the offer stage, prevents gaps that could delay onboarding.
