About the Data Center Infrastructure (DCI) Team:
The DCI team consists of technical subject matter experts who specialize in end-to-end large scale physical infrastructure that powers and enables modern data centers. This includes power distribution systems such as transformers, substations, generators, switchgear, switch panels, busways, ATS units, EDPM, BMS systems, and control panels, as well as cooling solutions ranging from traditional evaporative and indirect cooling systems to emerging liquid cooling technologies including chillers, heat exchangers, CDUs, pumps, and secondary fluid networks. The team also addresses the mechanical structures that house these systems - hot aisle containment, steel enclosures, blanking panels, cable trays, and fiber and networking infrastructure.
The DCI team operates as a cross-industry center of excellence, partnering primarily with various cloud providers across the industry. Team members function as deeply technical subject matter experts who engage directly with customers and supply chain partners to assess requirements, identify challenges, and design infrastructure solutions end-to-end. The ideal contributor brings engineering-level expertise in either power or cooling disciplines, a working knowledge of the full infrastructure dependency chain, and the ability to translate that expertise into clear recommendations and collaborative problem-solving with both technical and business stakeholders.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Controls Engineer Jobs at Jabil Jobs
Tailor your resume to Jabil's automation stack
Jabil's Controls Engineer postings consistently emphasize PLC platforms like Allen-Bradley and Siemens, SCADA systems, and process control in high-volume electronics manufacturing. Align your resume to those specifics rather than generic controls experience.
Target sites with active capital projects
Jabil regularly expands or retools facilities tied to new manufacturing contracts. Controls Engineer openings cluster around those sites. Research which Jabil campuses are undergoing equipment upgrades or new line installations before deciding where to apply.
Get your credentials evaluated before you apply
If your engineering degree is from outside the U.S., obtain a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency before submitting applications. Jabil's HR teams need to confirm your qualification maps to a U.S. bachelor's in electrical or mechanical engineering for H-1B specialty occupation purposes.
Clarify TN eligibility early in the offer stage
If you're Canadian or Mexican, a Controls Engineer role can qualify under the TN 'Engineer' category, but you'll need documentation showing your degree is in a qualifying engineering discipline. Confirm this with the hiring manager before the offer letter is finalized so the paperwork matches.
Understand where OPT fits in Jabil's hiring cycle
Jabil participates in F-1 OPT hiring, but Controls Engineer roles often require hands-on site presence from day one. Confirm your OPT start date aligns with the position's onboarding timeline. USCIS allows a 60-day grace period if your previous authorization lapses between roles.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by visa type
Jabil posts Controls Engineer openings across many locations simultaneously, making it hard to isolate roles where sponsorship is actively offered. Use Migrate Mate to filter Jabil's postings by the visa types relevant to your situation and avoid wasting applications on ineligible positions.

Find Controls Engineer at Jabil JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Jabil sponsor H-1B visas for Controls Engineers?
Yes, Jabil sponsors H-1B visas for Controls Engineer roles. Controls engineering qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines because it requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or a closely related engineering discipline. Jabil's engineering functions have a consistent sponsorship history, making it a viable target if you're pursuing or maintaining H-1B status.
How do I apply for Controls Engineer jobs at Jabil?
Apply directly through Jabil's careers portal, where roles are listed by site and business unit. Before applying, confirm the posting explicitly mentions visa sponsorship or that the location has an active sponsorship track record for engineering roles. Migrate Mate lets you browse Jabil's Controls Engineer openings filtered by visa type, which saves time if you need sponsorship for a specific category like H-1B or TN.
Which visa types does Jabil commonly use for Controls Engineer roles?
Jabil sponsors H-1B visas most commonly for Controls Engineers, along with Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 PERM labor certification for longer-term employees. F-1 OPT and CPT are used for early-career candidates. Canadian and Mexican engineers may also qualify for TN status under the Engineer category, which is faster to obtain than an H-1B and does not require a lottery.
What qualifications does Jabil expect for Controls Engineer roles?
Most Jabil Controls Engineer postings require a bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering, along with hands-on experience programming PLCs (typically Allen-Bradley or Siemens) and working with SCADA or HMI systems. Roles tied to specific manufacturing lines may also require familiarity with robotics integration or servo drive systems. Senior-level postings generally expect several years of experience in a high-volume production environment.
How long does the sponsorship process typically take for a Controls Engineer at Jabil?
Timeline depends heavily on visa type. TN status for Canadian citizens can be approved at the border on the same day. H-1B petitions filed under standard processing take several months; USCIS premium processing (currently 15 business days) is available if timing is critical. Green Card sponsorship via PERM involves DOL labor market testing, which typically adds one to two years before an I-140 petition can be filed.
