Align your credentials to hardware validation roles
Jabil's Test Engineer positions prioritize hands-on experience with automated test equipment, PCB validation, and failure analysis. Frame your resume around specific test methodologies like boundary scan or in-circuit testing rather than general QA experience.
Target Jabil's manufacturing-heavy site locations
Jabil operates production facilities in states like California, Texas, and Florida where Test Engineer demand is highest. Applying to roles tied to active manufacturing sites improves your chances compared to corporate or design-only locations.
Get your OPT authorization lined up before applying
If you're on F-1 status, confirm your OPT start date aligns with Jabil's hiring timeline. USCIS recommends filing the I-765 at least 90 days before your intended start date to avoid authorization gaps during onboarding.
Clarify H-1B sponsorship intent early in interviews
Jabil sponsors H-1B visas for engineering roles, but sponsorship decisions are made at the business unit level. Ask the hiring manager directly whether the specific team has budget for H-1B sponsorship before advancing through multiple interview rounds.
Understand how PERM timing affects your green card path
For EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, Jabil must complete a DOL PERM labor certification before filing your immigrant petition. This process can take 12 to 18 months, so raise long-term sponsorship intentions once you have an offer in hand.
Browse open Test Engineer roles using Migrate Mate
Filtering roles by employer sponsorship history narrows your search to companies with a real track record. Use Migrate Mate to identify open Test Engineer positions at Jabil and prioritize applications to roles where sponsorship is confirmed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jabil sponsor H-1B visas for Test Engineers?
Yes, Jabil sponsors H-1B visas for Test Engineer roles. Sponsorship decisions are typically made at the business unit or site level rather than centrally, so it's worth confirming with the hiring team for the specific role you're applying to. The company has a consistent record of sponsoring engineering talent across its electronics manufacturing operations.
Which visa types does Jabil commonly use for Test Engineer roles?
Jabil supports several visa pathways for Test Engineers, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students completing degrees in electrical engineering or a related field. For longer-term sponsorship, Jabil has pursued EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for engineering staff.
What qualifications does Jabil expect for Test Engineer positions?
Jabil typically looks for a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related discipline. Practical experience with automated test equipment, PCB assembly validation, and failure analysis is prioritized. Familiarity with test frameworks like National Instruments LabVIEW, boundary scan, or in-circuit testing is commonly referenced in Jabil job postings for this role.
How do I apply for Test Engineer jobs at Jabil?
You can search and apply for Test Engineer positions at Jabil through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles with confirmed sponsorship history so you're not applying blind. When you apply, tailor your application to the specific manufacturing site and product line in the job description. Jabil's hiring process for engineering roles typically includes a technical screening, a practical skills assessment, and interviews with the hiring team.
How do I time my visa sponsorship conversations during the Jabil hiring process?
The right time to discuss sponsorship is after a verbal offer but before you sign anything. For H-1B transfers or new filings, USCIS requires the I-129 petition to be filed before your employment start date. If you're on OPT, confirm your authorization expiry date with Jabil's HR team early so they can plan the H-1B filing timeline accordingly, particularly around the April 1 cap-subject filing window.
