Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
H-1B eligibility for Procurement roles at Lam hinges on demonstrating that the position requires a specific bachelor's degree, not just any business degree. Frame your supply chain, engineering, or materials management degree as directly tied to semiconductor procurement work.
Target Lam's direct materials sourcing teams
Lam Research sources highly technical components for wafer fabrication equipment. Procurement roles tied to direct materials, engineering commodities, or supplier quality carry stronger specialty occupation arguments than indirect or facilities purchasing roles when supporting an H-1B petition.
Browse open Procurement roles through Migrate Mate
Lam Research lists Procurement positions across multiple sites and levels. Use Migrate Mate to filter active openings by sponsorship eligibility so you're applying to roles where international candidates are actively being considered, not wasting applications on restricted requisitions.
Understand Lam's TN eligibility for Canadian and Mexican applicants
TN status covers certain business roles but requires a qualifying NAFTA-listed profession. If your Procurement title aligns with Management Consultant or Engineer categories under USMCA, TN can get you started faster than waiting for the H-1B lottery cycle.
Time your offer acceptance around the H-1B lottery window
USCIS opens H-1B registrations in March for an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer outside that window, confirm with Lam's immigration team whether F-1 OPT, CPT, or a cap-exempt filing applies to bridge your status until the next available period.
Prepare for PERM documentation early if targeting a Green Card
Lam Research has supported EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship for Procurement professionals. The DOL PERM process requires advertising the role publicly and proving no qualified U.S. workers are available, so expect at least 12 to 18 months from initiation to I-140 filing.

Does Lam Research sponsor H-1B visas for Procurement roles?
Yes, Lam Research sponsors H-1B visas for Procurement professionals. These roles typically qualify as specialty occupations when they require a degree in supply chain management, engineering, materials science, or a related technical field. Lam works with experienced immigration counsel to file petitions, and sponsorship is generally initiated after a formal offer is extended.
How do I apply for Procurement jobs at Lam Research?
Apply directly through Lam Research's careers portal on their website, where Procurement roles are listed by function and location. You can also use Migrate Mate to browse Lam Research's current Procurement openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, which helps you identify the right roles before submitting your application. Tailor your resume to emphasize technical sourcing experience relevant to semiconductor or electronics manufacturing.
Which visa types does Lam Research commonly use for Procurement hires?
Lam Research sponsors across several visa categories for Procurement roles, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, TN for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT or CPT for students transitioning from academic programs. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, Lam has supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the DOL PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Lam Research expect for sponsored Procurement roles?
Lam Research typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, materials science, or a closely related technical discipline. Experience sourcing components or services within electronics, semiconductor, or precision manufacturing environments is a strong differentiator. For senior roles, familiarity with supplier development, contract negotiation, and commodity management in a regulated manufacturing context adds significant weight to your application.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at Lam Research?
From offer acceptance, Lam Research's immigration team typically begins preparing your H-1B petition several weeks before the USCIS filing window opens in April. Standard processing runs three to five months after filing, with an October 1 start date. Premium processing through USCIS can reduce adjudication to 15 business days for an additional fee, which Lam may elect depending on your start date requirements.
