Align your resume to Lenovo's hardware software stack
Lenovo hires Software Engineers to build firmware, device drivers, and cloud services for its PC, server, and smart device lines. Tailor your resume to show experience in embedded systems, Linux kernel development, or cloud-native tools rather than generic web application work.
Target teams with recurring sponsorship patterns
Lenovo's infrastructure and AI research divisions consistently bring in visa-sponsored engineers. Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data by employer name and job title to identify which Lenovo business units file LCAs most frequently for Software Engineer roles before applying.
Confirm your OPT start date against the offer timeline
Lenovo recruits on a rolling basis rather than strictly seasonal cycles. If you're on F-1 OPT, verify your EAD start date covers the expected onboarding window. A gap of even a few days before your authorized start date creates an employment authorization problem.
Clarify H-1B cap-gap coverage during interviews
If your OPT expires before October 1 and Lenovo files an H-1B petition on your behalf, cap-gap rules extend your work authorization automatically. Ask the recruiter early whether Lenovo's legal team files by the April 1 USCIS deadline to protect your continuous employment.
Browse Lenovo Software Engineer roles on Migrate Mate
Confirmed sponsorship roles are harder to find on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter Software Engineer openings at Lenovo by visa type so you apply only to positions where sponsorship is already part of the hiring plan.
Prepare credentials for a specialty occupation determination
Lenovo's H-1B filings for Software Engineers require USCIS to confirm the role is a specialty occupation. Have your official transcripts, degree equivalency evaluation if your credential is non-U.S., and any professional certifications ready before the petition stage begins.

Find Software Engineer at Lenovo JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Lenovo sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
Yes, Lenovo sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineer roles. The company participates in the annual H-1B lottery and files petitions through the USCIS registration process each April for selected candidates. Software Engineers working on firmware, cloud infrastructure, and AI products are among the roles for which Lenovo has an active sponsorship history.
Which visa types does Lenovo commonly use for Software Engineer roles?
Lenovo sponsors H-1B visas as its primary long-term work authorization pathway for Software Engineers. The company also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles, and J-1 for certain research or exchange positions. The right pathway depends on your nationality, degree, and current status.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at Lenovo?
Applications go through Lenovo's careers portal, where you can filter by function and location. To find roles that explicitly include visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate to browse verified Lenovo Software Engineer openings filtered by visa type. Tailor your application to the specific product area, whether that is PC hardware, servers, or cloud services, since Lenovo's engineering teams are organized by business unit.
What qualifications does Lenovo typically expect for sponsored Software Engineer positions?
Lenovo generally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field. This degree requirement is also what USCIS uses to confirm the role qualifies as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes. Roles in firmware or embedded systems often expect hands-on experience with C, C++, or Linux kernel development in addition to the degree.
How do I time my application around the H-1B filing calendar?
USCIS opens H-1B registration each March, with approved petitions taking effect October 1. If you are targeting an H-1B through Lenovo, engaging with their recruiters between October and February gives your application time to move through internal approvals before the registration window opens. F-1 OPT holders should track their EAD expiration date and confirm cap-gap eligibility if their authorization would otherwise lapse before October 1.
