Frame your credentials for academic research contexts
University biotech roles often require documentation that bridges lab experience with academic or clinical research output. Organize transcripts, publications, and research abstracts before applying so you can respond quickly to HR requests during screening.
Target departments with active research grants
Loyola's biotech hiring is often tied to funded research programs in life sciences and health sciences. Roles attached to active grants move faster and are more likely to include visa sponsorship because funding already covers associated hiring costs.
Browse open Biotech roles directly on Migrate Mate
Filtering by sponsorship-confirmed employers saves significant time. Use Migrate Mate to find current Biotech openings at Loyola University Chicago and confirm which roles explicitly support H-1B or OPT candidates before you apply.
Clarify OPT and CPT eligibility before your interview
Universities frequently hire on F-1 OPT or CPT, especially for research assistant and lab technician roles. Confirm your remaining OPT days and whether your degree field aligns with the role before your first interview, since Loyola's HR will ask.
Understand where TN fits for Canadian and Mexican applicants
If you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship, TN status can cover biotech and life sciences roles at Loyola without a lottery. Verify that your job title and degree field match the TN occupation list before the offer stage, not after.
Anticipate PERM timing if H-1B leads to green card
Universities like Loyola can sponsor EB-2 or EB-3 green cards through the PERM labor certification process. DOL processing for PERM currently runs several months, so if long-term sponsorship matters to you, raise it during offer negotiation, not after onboarding.

Find Biotech at Loyola University Chicago JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Loyola University Chicago sponsor H-1B visas for Biotechs?
Yes, Loyola University Chicago sponsors H-1B visas for Biotech roles that meet the specialty occupation standard. As a registered university employer, Loyola works with USCIS petitions for qualifying positions in research, laboratory science, and related academic functions. Sponsorship availability typically depends on the specific role, department budget, and whether the position is tied to ongoing grant funding.
How do I apply for Biotech jobs at Loyola University Chicago?
Applications go through Loyola's official careers portal, where Biotech roles are listed by department. Review each posting carefully for sponsorship language before applying. You can also use Migrate Mate to browse current Biotech openings at Loyola University Chicago that are confirmed to support visa sponsorship, which helps you avoid roles that won't advance your immigration goals.
Which visa types are commonly used for Biotech roles at Loyola University Chicago?
H-1B is the most common work visa for full-time Biotech positions at Loyola. F-1 OPT and CPT are frequently used for research and lab roles filled by current or recent international students. TN status is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying life sciences occupations. For longer-term employment, Loyola can sponsor EB-2 or EB-3 Green Cards through the PERM process.
What qualifications does Loyola University Chicago expect for Biotech roles?
Most Biotech positions at Loyola require at minimum a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related life science. Research-focused roles often prefer a master's degree or relevant lab experience. H-1B eligibility depends on whether the role meets USCIS's specialty occupation standard, which generally requires a specific degree in the field, not just any bachelor's degree.
How do I time my Biotech job search at Loyola around the H-1B cap?
The H-1B cap lottery opens in March each year for an October 1 start date. If you're on F-1 OPT, you need an approved H-1B petition before your OPT expires or you'll need to leave the U.S. Universities like Loyola are cap-subject employers, so align your application timeline to ensure an offer can be secured before the USCIS registration window closes in late March.
