Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Professor Jobs at Loyola University Chicago Jobs
Align your credentials with U.S. academic standards
Loyola reviews foreign degrees carefully for faculty appointments. If your doctorate or postdoctoral training came from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved service before applying, so hiring committees can immediately assess equivalency.
Target departments with recurring faculty openings
Loyola's Stritch School of Medicine, Quinlan School of Business, and School of Law post Professor roles with regularity. Focusing your search on departments that hire internationally gives you better odds than applying broadly across the university.
Understand how J-1 and H-1B timelines differ
Universities often start faculty hires on J-1 exchange visitor status before transitioning to H-1B. Know which status Loyola intends to use from the start, because J-1 may carry a two-year home residency requirement that complicates later permanent residency filings.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Professor roles
Professor openings at Loyola that include visa sponsorship don't always appear on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for sponsored faculty positions at Loyola so you're not manually sorting through postings that don't apply to your immigration situation.
Prepare your H-1B petition documents before cap season
H-1B cap registration opens in March and Loyola must submit your petition quickly if selected. Have your syllabi, publication record, official transcripts, and a detailed job duties letter ready months in advance so nothing delays filing after a successful lottery draw.

Find Professor at Loyola University Chicago JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Loyola University Chicago sponsor H-1B visas for Professors?
Yes, Loyola University Chicago sponsors H-1B visas for Professor roles. Universities are cap-exempt H-1B employers, which means Loyola can file H-1B petitions at any time of year without waiting for the annual lottery. This is a significant advantage for international faculty candidates, as there's no March registration deadline or selection uncertainty tied to your hire.
Which visa types are commonly used for Professor roles at Loyola University Chicago?
H-1B is the most common work visa for full-time Professor positions at Loyola. J-1 Exchange Visitor status is frequently used for visiting faculty, postdocs, and researchers. F-1 OPT and CPT apply to doctoral candidates completing academic appointments. For long-term faculty, Loyola also supports EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card pathways through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications are expected for Professor positions at Loyola University Chicago?
Most Professor roles at Loyola require a terminal degree in the relevant field, typically a Ph.D., J.D., M.D., or equivalent. Research-focused positions in departments like the Stritch School of Medicine or the College of Arts and Sciences also expect a publication record and evidence of external funding. Teaching experience and alignment with Loyola's Jesuit educational mission are recurring themes in faculty job postings.
How do I apply for Professor jobs at Loyola University Chicago?
Applications for Professor positions at Loyola are submitted through the university's careers portal, and each posting has its own requirements, but most ask for a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement, and research statement. If you want to browse open Professor roles that include visa sponsorship in one place, Migrate Mate lists these positions and filters for international candidates.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Professor hire at Loyola?
For H-1B, USCIS standard processing takes three to five months from filing, though Loyola can use premium processing to get a decision within 15 business days if timing is tight. For a Green Card through PERM, the full process from DOL filing to an approved I-140 petition typically takes one to two years depending on backlog and whether any recruitment steps need to be repeated.
