Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Laboratory Jobs at Loyola University Chicago Jobs
Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires Laboratory roles to qualify as specialty occupations for H-1B sponsorship. Make sure your degree is in a field directly related to the lab function you're targeting, not just a general science degree that loosely fits the job description.
Target Loyola's research and core lab units
Loyola's sponsored Laboratory hires tend to sit within research centers and academic departments rather than administrative support. Focusing your applications on faculty-affiliated labs or grant-funded research positions improves your odds of finding a role that routinely goes through the sponsorship process.
Use OPT strategically as a bridge into Loyola
F-1 OPT gives you up to 12 months of work authorization, with a 24-month STEM extension if your degree qualifies. Starting in a Laboratory role on OPT gives Loyola time to evaluate your fit and build the documentation needed for an H-1B petition before your authorization expires.
Browse open Laboratory roles using Migrate Mate
Searching for lab roles at universities that consistently sponsor visas saves time. Use Migrate Mate to filter Laboratory openings at Loyola University Chicago and see which positions are actively posted, so you can prioritize applications where sponsorship is already part of the hiring pattern.
Prepare a credential evaluation early for foreign degrees
If your laboratory science degree is from outside the United States, USCIS will scrutinize its equivalency to a U.S. bachelor's degree. Getting a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before you apply puts you ahead of any delays in the petition review.

Find Laboratory at Loyola University Chicago JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Loyola University Chicago sponsor H-1B visas for Laboratorys?
Yes, Loyola University Chicago sponsors H-1B visas for Laboratory roles where the position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria. University research and clinical lab positions typically meet this threshold because they require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific scientific field. Your degree must directly relate to the lab function outlined in the job description for the petition to hold up.
How do I apply for Laboratory jobs at Loyola University Chicago?
Applications for Laboratory positions go through Loyola's official careers portal. You'll typically submit a resume, cover letter, and any relevant certifications or transcripts. For research-affiliated roles, it helps to reference specific lab techniques or instrumentation you have hands-on experience with. Migrate Mate also lists open Laboratory positions at Loyola, which lets you track active postings and apply directly from one place.
Which visa types are commonly used for Laboratory roles at Loyola University Chicago?
Loyola supports several visa pathways for Laboratory hires. H-1B is the most common route for full-time professional lab roles. F-1 OPT and CPT are used by students and recent graduates transitioning into university lab positions. J-1 is frequently used for research scholars and postdoctoral lab appointments. TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying scientific occupations. For long-term hires, Loyola also pursues EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship.
What qualifications are expected for Laboratory positions at Loyola University Chicago?
Most Laboratory roles at Loyola require at minimum a bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline such as biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field. Research-focused positions often expect hands-on experience with specific laboratory techniques, equipment, or safety protocols. Senior or specialized roles may require a master's degree or doctoral training. Certifications in laboratory safety or relevant instrumentation strengthen your application, particularly for clinical or regulated lab environments.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Laboratory role at Loyola?
Timeline depends on the visa type. For H-1B, Loyola must file the Labor Condition Application with DOL first, which typically takes one to three weeks, followed by the I-129 petition with USCIS. Standard processing runs three to six months; premium processing reduces that to roughly 15 business days. If you're on OPT, your 60-day grace period after employment ends gives you limited runway, so aligning your start date with petition timelines is critical.
