Align your credentials to Marquette's mission
Marquette emphasizes Jesuit values and service-oriented education. Framing your teaching philosophy, advising approach, or curriculum work around those principles signals genuine fit, which matters when a department decides whether to invest in sponsorship.
Verify your degree meets specialty occupation standards
For H-1B eligibility, USCIS requires a direct nexus between your degree field and the education role you're applying for. A doctorate or master's in your teaching discipline strengthens that argument considerably over a general education credential.
Target departments with active faculty searches
Marquette posts faculty and academic staff openings through its careers portal by college and department. Focusing on colleges where searches are currently open, rather than cold outreach, puts you in front of hiring committees already authorized to extend offers.
Ask about sponsorship eligibility before the final interview
Some education roles at Marquette, particularly part-time or adjunct positions, may not qualify for H-1B sponsorship because they don't meet the full-time or specialty occupation threshold. Clarify the role's classification with HR before you reach the offer stage.
Browse Marquette education openings on Migrate Mate
Filter by visa type and education function on Migrate Mate to surface Marquette roles verified for sponsorship. This saves time you'd otherwise spend manually screening postings that don't lead to a sponsorship conversation.

Find Education at Marquette University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Marquette University sponsor H-1B visas for Education roles?
Yes. Marquette University sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying education positions, typically full-time faculty, academic staff, and specialist roles that meet USCIS specialty occupation criteria. Part-time or adjunct appointments may not qualify. The university works with its international office to manage petitions, so confirming the sponsorship status of a specific role with HR early in the process is practical.
How do I apply for Education jobs at Marquette University?
Applications go through Marquette's official careers portal, where postings are organized by college and department. Faculty roles typically require a cover letter, CV, teaching statement, and research or diversity statement depending on the position. You can also browse verified sponsoring education openings at Marquette through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles where visa sponsorship has been confirmed.
Which visa types does Marquette University commonly use for Education positions?
Marquette sponsors H-1B visas for most full-time professional and faculty education roles. F-1 OPT and CPT are available to current international students in education-related graduate programs at Marquette. TN status is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying education occupations. For permanent hires, the university has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards through PERM labor certification.
What qualifications are expected for Education roles at Marquette University?
Faculty positions generally require a terminal degree in the relevant discipline, most commonly a Ph.D. or equivalent. Academic advising and student services roles typically require at least a master's degree in education, counseling, or a related field. Marquette places weight on teaching effectiveness, service orientation consistent with its Jesuit mission, and, for research-focused positions, a demonstrated publication or grant record.
How do I plan my timeline around H-1B sponsorship for an academic role at Marquette?
The standard H-1B cap lottery opens in March for an October 1 start, which aligns well with the academic year calendar. If you receive an offer in the spring hiring cycle, that timing works in your favor. Cap-exempt pathways may apply depending on your role. Build in time for USCIS processing, which currently runs several months for regular processing, and factor in any OPT or grace period runway you have remaining.
