Job Roles at McDermott Companies
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in McDermott Visa Sponsorship USA
Target roles that align with specialty occupation standards
McDermott's H-1B sponsorships concentrate in consulting and professional services roles that clearly require a specialized degree. Focus your applications on positions where your academic background directly maps to the job's core responsibilities, not just general business functions.
Understand McDermott's dual-track sponsorship path
McDermott sponsors both H-1B visas and employment-based Green Cards, meaning long-term career growth within the firm is possible. Ask recruiters early whether a role is eligible for permanent residency sponsorship, not just temporary work authorization.
Apply well before H-1B cap season
USCIS's H-1B registration window opens in March. To be included, McDermott must register you before that deadline. Start conversations with their talent acquisition team in January or February to avoid missing the annual filing window.
Emphasize consulting-specific credentials in your application
McDermott values demonstrable expertise in client-facing consulting work. Highlight project outcomes, industry specializations, and client impact in your resume, these signal that your skills meet the specialty occupation threshold required for H-1B approval.
Filter for verified sponsoring employers before applying
Not every consulting firm will sponsor visas, even if roles look similar. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and spend your time on employers like McDermott that have an active track record.
Ask about Green Card timelines during the offer stage
McDermott has sponsored employment-based Green Cards, making it worth raising PERM and I-140 timelines during offer negotiations. Firms with an established sponsorship process are far more receptive to these conversations than those doing it for the first time.

Does McDermott sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, McDermott sponsors H-1B visas for qualified international professionals in consulting and professional services roles. Sponsorship is concentrated in positions that meet the specialty occupation standard, meaning the role must typically require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. If you're targeting McDermott, confirm visa eligibility with the recruiter early in the process, ideally before a formal interview stage.
What visa types does McDermott sponsor?
McDermott sponsors both H-1B nonimmigrant visas and employment-based Green Cards, primarily through the EB-2 and EB-3 preference categories. This dual-track approach means the firm can support international employees through both temporary work authorization and permanent residency, which is a meaningful advantage for professionals planning a long-term career in the United States.
Which roles or departments at McDermott are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at McDermott tends to follow its core consulting and professional services work. Roles in management consulting, strategy, operations, and specialized advisory functions are the most natural fit for H-1B sponsorship because they typically satisfy the specialty occupation requirement. Generalist or administrative roles are less likely to qualify. Reviewing job descriptions carefully for degree requirements will help you identify which positions are sponsorship-eligible.
How do I find open visa-sponsored jobs at McDermott?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to browse McDermott's sponsorship-eligible openings alongside verified data on which employers are actively filing visas. Rather than guessing which postings will lead to sponsorship conversations, you can filter by employer and visa type to focus your search. From there, applying directly through McDermott's careers page and signaling your visa status clearly in your application will help move things forward.
How do I time my application to McDermott if I need H-1B sponsorship?
Timing matters significantly with H-1B sponsorship. The annual cap registration opens in March, and employers must register candidates before that window closes. To be included, you'd typically need a job offer in hand by late February at the latest. Starting outreach to McDermott's recruiting team in the fall or early winter of the year prior gives you the best chance of moving through interviews and receiving an offer before that deadline.
