Frame Your Credentials Around McDonald's Project Scope
McDonald's Project Assistants support everything from restaurant technology rollouts to global supply chain initiatives. Tailor your resume to highlight cross-functional coordination, stakeholder management, and systems projects, not generic administrative support.
Target McDonald's Corporate and Tech Hub Locations
McDonald's Project Assistant openings cluster around its Chicago headquarters and regional operations centers. Prioritize these locations in your search, H-1B and TN petitions tied to corporate hubs face fewer employer-side logistical complications than field or franchise-level roles.
Confirm Sponsorship Eligibility Before Applying
McDonald's corporate entities file under its primary employer accounts, but franchise locations typically don't sponsor visas. Verify the hiring entity in the job posting. If it's a franchisee rather than McDonald's Corporation, sponsorship is unlikely regardless of the role title.
Use OPT or CPT to Get Inside the Company First
If you're on F-1 status, joining McDonald's through OPT or CPT in a project-adjacent role can position you for H-1B sponsorship before your 60-day grace period becomes a pressure point. Internal mobility at McDonald's is well-documented for corporate track employees.
Prepare Your LCA Documentation Before Receiving an Offer
Once McDonald's initiates H-1B sponsorship, your employer files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. Understanding prevailing wage requirements for Project Assistant roles in your specific metro area helps you evaluate whether the offered salary meets DOL standards.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter for Sponsoring Openings
Finding which McDonald's Project Assistant postings are tied to sponsoring entities versus franchisees is time-consuming manually. Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsoring job listings and surface roles where McDonald's Corporation is the direct employer.

Find Project Assistant at McDonald's JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does McDonald's sponsor H-1B visas for Project Assistants?
Yes, McDonald's sponsors H-1B visas for Project Assistant roles, but only through its corporate entities, not franchise locations. The role needs to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning it requires at least a bachelor's degree in a related field such as business, information systems, or operations management. Roles tied to technology or global supply chain projects tend to have the clearest specialty occupation footing.
How do I apply for Project Assistant jobs at McDonald's?
Applications go through McDonald's careers portal at careers.mcdonalds.com. Filter by function, typically Operations, Technology, or Global Business Services depending on the team. When applying, confirm the hiring entity is McDonald's Corporation rather than a franchisee, since only corporate roles carry sponsorship potential. You can also browse verified sponsoring openings on Migrate Mate, which surfaces McDonald's corporate postings specifically.
Which visa types does McDonald's commonly use for Project Assistant roles?
McDonald's corporate uses H-1B most frequently for Project Assistant positions, with Green Card pathways typically following through EB-2 or EB-3 once you're established in the role. TN visas are available for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose qualifications map to eligible TN categories. F-1 OPT and CPT are also supported, making early-career entry realistic for international students before transitioning to long-term sponsorship.
What qualifications does McDonald's expect for a Project Assistant role?
McDonald's typically looks for a bachelor's degree in business administration, project management, supply chain, or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools like Smartsheet, Asana, or Microsoft Project is common in postings. For roles supporting technology or operations initiatives, exposure to cross-functional coordination in a corporate or consulting environment strengthens your application considerably. Certifications like CAPM or PMP are noted favorably but rarely required at the assistant level.
How long does McDonald's visa sponsorship process take for Project Assistants?
For H-1B, the timeline depends on the annual lottery, which runs in March with an October 1 start date if selected. Between USCIS petition preparation and adjudication, plan for three to six months from offer to work authorization under standard processing. Premium processing, which USCIS adjudicates within 15 business days, is available if your start date is time-sensitive. TN visas for eligible nationals can be obtained at the port of entry with significantly shorter timelines.
