Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Principal Software Engineer Jobs at Molex Jobs
Align your portfolio to embedded systems
Molex sits at the intersection of hardware and software, so engineers who can demonstrate experience with firmware, IoT platforms, or industrial connectivity are a stronger fit than pure web or app developers. Build that case in your resume before applying.
Confirm OPT STEM extension eligibility early
Molex sponsors F-1 OPT, and a Principal-level role in software engineering almost certainly qualifies under a STEM-designated CIP code. Verify your degree field maps to an eligible code with your DSO before you receive an offer, not after.
Target open roles through Migrate Mate
Molex lists Principal Software Engineer openings across multiple sites. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Molex roles that flag visa sponsorship, so you're not manually parsing dozens of postings to confirm eligibility before applying.
Understand the LCA's prevailing wage implications
For H-1B and H-1B1 filings, your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL certifying your offered salary meets the prevailing wage for your location and job level. At Principal level, that wage floor is typically higher than mid-level roles, so clarify the geographic posting in your offer.
Ask about cap-exempt filing routes during interviews
If you've already been counted against the H-1B cap at a previous employer, a transfer to Molex doesn't require a new lottery entry. Raise this in offer discussions so the hiring team and their immigration counsel can file a transfer petition without waiting for the next April registration window.
Prepare technical documentation for PERM if targeting a Green Card
Molex sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 pathways. The PERM labor certification process requires your employer to document that no qualified U.S. worker is available, which means your technical credentials, including degrees and prior systems architecture work, need to be clearly articulated before that recruitment phase begins.

Find Principal Software Engineer at Molex JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Molex sponsor H-1B visas for Principal Software Engineers?
Yes, Molex sponsors H-1B visas for Principal Software Engineers. The company has an active sponsorship track record for technical roles at this level. If you're subject to the annual H-1B cap, you'd need to register in the March lottery window. If you're transferring from another H-1B employer, Molex can file a transfer petition outside the cap.
How do I apply for Principal Software Engineer jobs at Molex?
Applications go through Molex's careers portal, where Principal Software Engineer openings are listed by location and product line. Before applying, confirm the specific role flags visa sponsorship, since not every posting at a given company includes it. Migrate Mate aggregates Molex's open Principal Software Engineer roles and filters by sponsorship availability, which simplifies that verification step.
Which visa types does Molex commonly use for Principal Software Engineers?
Molex sponsors H-1B, TN, J-1, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT for this role, along with employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. For Principal-level engineers, H-1B is the most common long-term work authorization route, while OPT and CPT bridge the gap for recent graduates early in the hiring process.
What qualifications does Molex expect for a Principal Software Engineer?
Principal Software Engineer roles at Molex typically require a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a closely related field, combined with substantial experience in systems-level or embedded software development. Given Molex's focus on connectivity and industrial technology, experience with hardware-software integration, firmware architecture, or large-scale distributed systems carries significant weight in the evaluation.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Molex software engineering role?
Timeline depends on visa type. F-1 OPT can authorize work within a few weeks of an approved I-20 endorsement. H-1B standard processing runs three to five months after USCIS accepts the petition, with premium processing available to reduce that to roughly 15 business days. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, which require PERM labor certification before USCIS filing, typically take two years or more end to end.
