Your Job
Molex is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Naperville, IL. This role is responsible for specifying, architecting, designing and verifying electronic devices based on microcontrollers, sensors and radios. These IOT based designs are for the purpose of creating solutions for our customers in the marketplace of thin flexible BLE labels, human machine interfaces (HMI), and skin-attached medical/wearable sensors.
An ideal candidate will have knowledge of wireless interfaces such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Near Field Communications (NFC), and Wi-Fi. The Electrical Engineer will design battery-powered electronics that utilize very low power modes to extend the life of the battery. We are seeking candidates who can select the components, design the schematic, do board layout, and bench level validate the result. The Electrical Engineer should be able to provide clear directions for a test engineer to validate products. The ideal candidate enjoys the design challenge and investigates issues to improve the design based on design experience.
The Electrical Engineer reports to the Electrical Engineering Manager and works directly with mechanical engineers, costing engineers, quality engineers, test engineers, and technicians. They will lead projects and work hand in hand with mechanical engineering. The ideal candidate understands the importance of producing quality documentation, following a product development process, and utilizing a PLM system to maintain revision control.
Product specific focus areas include BLE smart labels and wearable skin patches. Our design team focuses on developing silver printed electronic devices and flexible polyimide copper circuits. If the product fits into focus areas, it may also utilize a standard FR4 based design. We assist customers in the development of unique flexible hybrid electronics.
What You Will Do
- Innovate and work as part of a cross-functional development team on product architecture, as well as the design implementation of sensor and radio devices.
- Lead the debug process and make design improvements to achieve optimal performance.
- Understand the customer's needs and apply the best technology to achieve it.
- Design electronic circuits using schematic capture and board layout.
- Select components and integrate them with a microcontroller with timers, interrupts, A/Ds, PWM's, etc.
- Study device specifications for electronic parts and select parts based on performance and cost trade-offs.
- Execute board bring-up activities to verify the full function of circuit using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeter, etc.
- Utilize knowledge of basic serial communication such as USB, I2C, SPI, UART.
- Utilize experience with wireless communication protocols including Bluetooth and LoRa.
- Document design verification plans. Supports efforts in a reliability lab for execution of design validation (DV) and production validation (PV) tests when needed.
- Provides guidance to a test engineer for creating an End of Line (EOL) test solution.
- Estimate timelines for development work based on requirements and existing project workload and keep track of time spent on various projects.
- Research new technologies and propose ideas to advance our business unit's capabilities to stay ahead in the market.
- Utilize problem-solving methodologies and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA, PFMEA, 8D, and fishbones).
- Checks other engineers' schematics, board layouts, and fabrication drawings for completeness and accuracy.
- Create technical documentation to support product release based on individual project needs.
- Interface with internal departments (manufacturing, quality, lab, sales and marketing) to ensure design objectives are met.
- Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
- Support Molex Quality Management by following approved policies and procedures.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Electrical Engineer Jobs at Molex Jobs
Align Your Credentials to Molex's Hardware Focus
Molex prioritizes Electrical Engineers with hands-on experience in connector design, PCB layout, or signal integrity. Before applying, audit your resume to surface project work in these areas rather than leading with general circuit theory or academic credentials.
Identify Which Molex Sites Are Actively Hiring
Molex operates engineering centers across multiple U.S. states. Target locations with open Electrical Engineer requisitions rather than applying broadly, since visa sponsorship decisions are often made at the business unit level, not centrally.
Understand How OPT Timing Affects Your Application Window
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your remaining authorized period before your first interview. Molex will assess whether your timeline supports onboarding and an H-1B cap filing in the same cycle, so a compressed runway can affect offer decisions.
Prepare for the LCA Prevailing Wage Step Early
Before Molex can file your H-1B petition, DOL must certify a Labor Condition Application confirming your offered wage meets the prevailing rate for the role and location. Understanding this step helps you evaluate offers and avoid surprises during the filing window.
Search Molex Electrical Engineer Roles on Migrate Mate
Filter specifically for Electrical Engineer openings at Molex on Migrate Mate to see which roles are currently active and have a confirmed sponsorship history. This saves time you'd otherwise spend cold-applying to positions with no sponsorship pathway.
Ask About Sponsorship Scope During the Offer Stage
When Molex extends an offer, clarify whether sponsorship covers only H-1B or also includes long-term pathways like EB-2 or EB-3 PERM. Engineering roles at manufacturing-focused companies often include both, but the timeline and cost structure differ meaningfully between them.
Electrical Engineer at Molex jobs are hiring across the US. Find yours.
Find Electrical Engineer at Molex JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Molex sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers?
Yes, Molex sponsors H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers. The company has a documented history of filing H-1B petitions for engineering roles across its U.S. operations. Sponsorship is typically tied to specific business units and locations, so roles posted with sponsorship confirmed are your clearest path in. OPT and TN candidates are also commonly supported.
How do I apply for Electrical Engineer jobs at Molex?
Apply directly through Molex's careers portal, and cross-reference open roles on Migrate Mate to identify positions with a confirmed sponsorship track record for Electrical Engineers. Tailor your application to highlight experience in connectivity systems, embedded hardware, or signal integrity, which aligns closely with the types of engineering work Molex staffs internationally.
Which visa types does Molex commonly use for Electrical Engineer roles?
Molex supports a range of visa categories for Electrical Engineers, including H-1B, F-1 OPT and CPT, TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), J-1, and Green Card pathways via EB-2 and EB-3 PERM. The right category depends on your nationality, education, and how far along you are in your career. H-1B and OPT are the most common entry points for international engineers.
What qualifications does Molex expect for sponsored Electrical Engineer positions?
Most sponsored Electrical Engineer roles at Molex require a bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. Practical experience with PCB design, connector systems, power electronics, or signal integrity is frequently cited in job descriptions. For H-1B purposes, your degree must directly correlate to the role's technical requirements under USCIS specialty occupation standards.
How do I plan my timeline when targeting a sponsored role at Molex?
H-1B cap filings open in March for an October 1 start date, so aligning your offer and onboarding timeline to that window matters. If you're on OPT, confirm you have enough time remaining to complete onboarding before your authorization expires. For TN or J-1 candidates, timelines are more flexible. Starting your job search three to six months before your intended start date gives you realistic runway.
