Verify your nursing credentials before applying
Nebraska requires RNs to hold a valid state license or an active multistate compact license. Get your foreign nursing credentials evaluated through CGFNS before reaching out to recruiters so you can confirm eligibility upfront and avoid delays later.
Target units with chronic staffing pressure
Acute care, med-surg, and critical care floors at large health systems like Nebraska Methodist consistently carry open roles longer than specialty units. Applying to high-turnover nursing departments increases the likelihood that a recruiter will engage seriously with a sponsorship conversation.
Browse open nursing roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate lets you filter nursing jobs by employer sponsorship history so you can prioritize companies that have actually filed for nurses before. Use it to identify which specific Nebraska Methodist roles are currently posted and which visa types they support.
Understand H-1B filing windows before your offer
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed once per year, with USCIS registration opening in March. If you receive an offer after April, your start date could be delayed by up to a year. Discuss timing with your recruiter before signing anything.
Ask HR directly about their TN and J-1 pathways
Nebraska Methodist has sponsored TN and J-1 visas for nursing candidates, which can move faster than H-1B. If you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship or have a qualifying exchange program connection, ask the HR team whether those pathways fit your role.
Confirm employer USCIS compliance before your interview
Health systems sponsoring H-1B nurses must pay the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Before your interview, review the public LCA database on the DOL FLAG portal to confirm Nebraska Methodist has filed LCAs for nursing positions in Omaha.

Find Nursing at Nebraska Methodist Health System JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Nebraska Methodist Health System sponsor H-1B visas for Nursings?
Yes, Nebraska Methodist Health System has a documented history of sponsoring H-1B visas for nursing roles. Sponsorship is not guaranteed for every open position, so confirm with the recruiter early in the process. The employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before a petition can be submitted to USCIS, so timelines depend on when in the cap year you receive your offer.
How do I apply for Nursing jobs at Nebraska Methodist Health System?
Applications go through Nebraska Methodist's careers portal on their official website. Search by role type, such as RN, LPN, or clinical nurse specialist, and filter by location within the Omaha metro. If you specifically need visa sponsorship, confirm that requirement in your cover letter or initial recruiter screening call. You can also find current Nebraska Methodist nursing openings through Migrate Mate, which filters for employers with active sponsorship history.
Which visa types are commonly used for Nursing roles at Nebraska Methodist Health System?
Nebraska Methodist has sponsored H-1B, TN, J-1, and F-1 OPT and CPT visas for nursing candidates. H-1B is the most common long-term pathway for international nurses in the U.S. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying nursing classifications. J-1 exchange visitor status is sometimes used for clinical training or short-term placements. F-1 OPT and CPT are options for nursing students completing U.S.-based degree programs.
What qualifications and experience does Nebraska Methodist Health System expect for nursing candidates?
Most nursing roles require a current Nebraska RN or LPN license, or eligibility to obtain one. For international nurses, CGFNS credential evaluation and passing the NCLEX-RN are standard prerequisites. Clinical experience expectations vary by unit, with critical care, telemetry, and med-surg roles often requiring at least one to two years of acute care experience. BSN-prepared candidates are increasingly preferred for inpatient positions.
How do I navigate the timeline between a nursing job offer and a visa filing at Nebraska Methodist?
The timeline depends heavily on your visa type. H-1B petitions are subject to an annual cap with USCIS registration in March, meaning offers made outside that window require waiting for the next cycle. TN status for qualifying Canadian or Mexican nurses can be obtained at the border with an offer letter and supporting documents. J-1 and OPT authorizations have separate processing timelines tied to your program or sponsor. Align your offer acceptance date with whichever filing window applies to your situation.
