Frame your credentials around healthcare finance
Northwell recruits Finance staff who understand hospital revenue cycles and healthcare-specific accounting standards. Highlighting experience with payor contracts, cost reporting, or healthcare reimbursement frameworks signals direct fit and strengthens your petition under specialty occupation standards.
Target roles that align with your OPT timeline
If you're on F-1 OPT, apply to Finance openings at least three months before your authorization expires. Northwell's HR teams are familiar with CPT and OPT transitions, but internal approval for sponsorship commitments takes time at a large health system.
Search open Finance roles using Migrate Mate
Filter Migrate Mate by Northwell Health and the Finance function to surface visa-sponsoring openings in one place. This saves time you'd otherwise spend manually checking job boards that don't distinguish sponsoring from non-sponsoring postings.
Confirm the LCA wage tier matches your offer
Before accepting an offer, ask Northwell's HR team which prevailing wage level the Labor Condition Application will be filed at. DOL wage levels affect whether your offered salary satisfies the requirement, and mismatches can delay your H-1B petition.
Prepare a PERM-ready employment history file
For Finance roles that lead to EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, Northwell's legal team will need documented proof of your prior positions and salaries. Organize W-2s, offer letters, and official employment verifications now so the PERM recruitment process doesn't stall on your end.
Ask about cap-exempt filing options early
Northwell Health is a nonprofit hospital system, which means it may qualify as a cap-exempt H-1B employer. If you've missed the April lottery, raising this question during the offer stage could open a faster path to status without waiting for the next registration cycle.

Does Northwell Health sponsor H-1B visas for Finance roles?
Yes. Northwell Health sponsors H-1B visas for Finance positions including financial analysts, budget analysts, and revenue cycle specialists. As a large nonprofit health system, it may also qualify for cap-exempt H-1B filings in some cases, which bypasses the annual lottery. Confirm your specific role's eligibility with Northwell's HR or immigration counsel during the offer stage.
How do I apply for Finance jobs at Northwell Health?
Applications go through Northwell Health's careers portal. For visa-sponsored openings specifically, Migrate Mate filters Finance roles at Northwell by sponsorship type so you can identify relevant postings without sorting through listings that don't offer sponsorship. Tailor your resume to highlight healthcare finance experience, as Northwell prioritizes candidates familiar with hospital revenue cycles and payor reimbursement.
Which visa types does Northwell Health commonly use for Finance professionals?
Northwell sponsors H-1B visas most frequently for Finance roles, and also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students transitioning from academic programs. For candidates seeking permanent residence, Northwell has a track record of filing EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions for Finance staff, typically after a period of employment. TN status is also available for qualifying Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible Finance occupations.
What qualifications does Northwell Health expect for sponsored Finance positions?
Most sponsored Finance roles at Northwell require at minimum a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a closely related field. Positions in financial analysis or budget management often prefer candidates with healthcare industry experience or familiarity with cost reporting standards used in hospital settings. CPA or CFA credentials strengthen applications for senior roles. USCIS requires that the degree field directly relate to the position for H-1B specialty occupation approval.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Finance role at Northwell Health?
Timeline depends on visa type. H-1B cap-subject petitions follow USCIS's April lottery cycle, with employment starting October 1 at the earliest. If Northwell qualifies as cap-exempt for your role, filings can proceed year-round with standard processing taking two to four months. OPT-to-H-1B transitions require careful timing given the 60-day grace period. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card timelines vary significantly based on your country of birth and current PERM processing backlogs at DOL.
