Frame Your Credentials Around Healthcare Operations
Northwell evaluates Business Operations candidates on healthcare-specific competencies: revenue cycle knowledge, regulatory compliance, and system-wide operational efficiency. Tailor your resume to reflect these priorities before applying, even if your background is in a different industry.
Target Roles That Align With Your Visa Category
H-1B eligibility requires a specialty occupation with a direct degree-to-role connection. Business Operations titles at health systems can vary widely, so confirm the posted role specifies a degree requirement in a related field before investing time in the application.
Search Open Roles Through Migrate Mate First
Use Migrate Mate to filter Northwell Health's current Business Operations openings by visa type. This saves time by surfacing roles where sponsorship is already expected, so you're applying with confidence rather than guessing at eligibility.
Understand the LCA Before Your Offer Stage
Before Northwell can file your H-1B petition, the DOL must certify a Labor Condition Application confirming prevailing wage compliance. This step happens before USCIS sees anything, so expect two to four weeks of processing time between offer acceptance and petition filing.
Ask About OPT Cap-Gap Coverage During Negotiations
If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT and the H-1B cap-gap applies, confirm Northwell's internal process for bridging your work authorization. Large health systems with established immigration programs typically have counsel who handles this, but you should ask explicitly during the offer stage.
Prepare for Longer PERM Timelines on Permanent Residency
If you're pursuing a Green Card through EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, PERM labor certification through the DOL can take well over a year. For Business Operations roles at a hospital system, expect detailed recruitment documentation requirements before the application is filed.

Find Business Operations at Northwell Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Northwell Health sponsor H-1B visas for Business Operations?
Yes, Northwell Health sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Business Operations roles. The role must meet USCIS specialty occupation criteria, meaning the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field directly related to the job duties. Northwell's in-house or retained immigration counsel typically manages the H-1B filing process, including the DOL Labor Condition Application.
How do I apply for Business Operations jobs at Northwell Health?
Applications are submitted through Northwell Health's careers portal. Before applying, confirm the role explicitly supports visa sponsorship, as not every Business Operations posting will. Migrate Mate lets you browse and filter Northwell's open Business Operations positions by visa type, so you can identify sponsorship-eligible roles before going through the full application process.
Which visa types does Northwell Health use for Business Operations roles?
Northwell Health has sponsored H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for eligible candidates in Business Operations. TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. F-1 OPT and CPT are commonly used during earlier career stages before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship.
What qualifications does Northwell Health expect for Business Operations roles?
Northwell typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare management, finance, or a closely related field. For H-1B eligibility, the degree must align specifically with the role's duties. Prior experience in a hospital, health system, or similarly regulated environment carries significant weight, particularly for roles involving compliance, budgeting, or operational planning.
How do I time my application around visa sponsorship deadlines?
If you're targeting H-1B sponsorship, Northwell would need to file during the annual cap registration period in March for an October 1 start date. If you're on OPT, apply with enough lead time for offer, LCA certification, and USCIS processing. TN sponsorship has no annual cap and can be initiated year-round, which gives more flexibility for roles where that category applies.
