A World-Changing Company
Palantir builds the world’s leading software for data-driven decisions and operations. By bringing the right data to the people who need it, our platforms empower our partners to develop lifesaving drugs, forecast supply chain disruptions, locate missing children, and more. Our Product Security team works on secure-by-design and deep product partnership. We build strong relationships with other teams and help them build secure software and infrastructure. This includes maintaining central best practices, reviewing early-stage designs, helping develop threat models, and offering guidance through implementation.
The Role
Our products support some of the most important and impactful work in the world, including defense, intelligence, and commercial applications. We are trusted by our customers to protect their mission-critical information in the face of advanced persistent threats. The mission of the Product Security Team is to enable Palantir’s product engineering organizations to build, ship, and operate the most secure and resilient products and infrastructure possible. We partner deeply with engineering teams across the company — from product engineers to forward deployed engineers — to embed security at every layer of what we build. Given the mission critical work that Palantir does, investments in product security have never been more important.
As a Product Infrastructure Security Engineer, you will be hands-on and have wide-ranging impact for the security of Palantir:
- Product security reviews. You will perform full-scope security reviews of our current and future product and service portfolio. You will work with offensive security teams, engineering teams, and other members of the InfoSec organization to harden our products against our dedicated adversaries.
- Architecture and design. You will be the security subject matter expert for product architects and engineers. You will threat model, assess risks, and help implement security controls and mitigations to address identified issues. You will directly steer the design of our products to ensure we are secure-by-default.
- Strategic security initiatives. You will be empowered to own transformational security initiatives that have broad impact across Palantir's most critical platforms. Members of the Product Infrastructure Security Team work directly to secure Palantir's core products, including AIP, Foundry, Gotham, and Mission Manager.
- Vulnerability identification and analysis. You will be responsible for finding new and novel ways to identify and resolve security vulnerabilities in our product infrastructure. This includes posture analysis and management, infrastructure vulnerability scanning, investigation of security reports, and direct work with our incident response team on product security issues and incidents.
This role has wide-reaching impact, strong autonomy, and the resources and empowerment to make significant security improvements across all Palantir. The skills and background of successful candidates may vary highly, but curiosity, tenacity, and a drive to be a world-class security engineer are the underpinnings of our team.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform deep architecture and security reviews on highly complex platform architecture to identify vulnerabilities
- Lead engineering teams in feature design, threat modeling, and security-critical control implementation
- Develop and implement automation to enforce security baselines and eliminate entire classes of infrastructure weaknesses across the organization
- Drive decision-making by determining the tradeoffs between security and product design
- Lead implementation of strategic security initiatives that improve security across Palantir
What We Value
- Self motivated, experience in solving complex problems
- History and experience designing and operating production-grade infrastructure and platform services
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; comfort working with engineering teams across verticals
- Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly and in complex deployments
What We Require
- Platform engineering experience operating Kubernetes and/or building controllers, and a deep passion for information security
- Experience with a modern high-level programming language (e.g. Java, Golang, Javascript, Python, etc.)
- Experience with complex or distributed platform architectures
- Experience security testing or hardening Kubernetes based platforms
- Experience evaluating Cloud, Linux, and Kubernetes configurations for vulnerabilities and weaknesses

Align your background with Palantir's deployment model
Palantir builds and deploys Foundry and AIP directly with clients, so Engineers who can demonstrate product-embedded, client-facing work stand out. Frame your resume around systems you shipped and operated, not just built.
Target roles that match your degree field exactly
H-1B specialty occupation approval requires a direct link between your degree and the role. For Palantir Engineering positions, a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field reduces USCIS RFE risk significantly.
Browse open Engineering roles on Migrate Mate
Palantir posts Engineering openings across multiple teams and seniority levels. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Palantir roles that include visa sponsorship, so you're applying to positions already confirmed for international candidates.
Understand Palantir's clearance requirements early
Some Palantir Engineering roles support U.S. government contracts requiring security clearances, which most visa holders cannot obtain. Screen job descriptions for clearance language before investing time in the application process.
Time your H-1B registration window carefully
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March each year for an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer from Palantir before then, confirm with HR whether they'll file in the upcoming registration cycle or support a cap-exempt alternative in the interim.

Find Engineering at Palantir Technologies JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Palantir Technologies sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Palantir Technologies sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering roles. The company has an established immigration process and works with outside counsel to handle H-1B filings, including premium processing in many cases. If you receive an Engineering offer, discuss the sponsorship timeline with your recruiter early, particularly around the annual USCIS H-1B registration window in March.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Palantir Technologies?
Apply directly through Palantir's careers page, which lists open Engineering roles by team and location. The process typically includes a recruiter screen, a technical assessment, and multiple Engineering interviews covering systems design, coding, and role-specific problem-solving. You can also browse Palantir's open Engineering positions filtered for visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate before applying.
Which visa types does Palantir Technologies commonly use for Engineering roles?
Palantir sponsors several visa categories for Engineering positions, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students, J-1 for exchange visitors, and employment-based Green Cards through EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term sponsorship. The right category depends on your nationality, degree, and employment stage.
What qualifications does Palantir look for in Engineering candidates who need sponsorship?
Palantir Engineering roles generally require a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a directly related field, which is also required for H-1B specialty occupation approval. Beyond credentials, Palantir heavily weights hands-on experience deploying production systems, working across large codebases, and collaborating in fast-moving environments. Candidates with experience in distributed systems, data pipelines, or AI infrastructure tend to be competitive.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for an Engineering offer from Palantir?
Timeline depends on visa type. For H-1B, USCIS registration happens in March for an October 1 start, so offers made earlier in the year require a gap or bridge arrangement. Premium processing for H-1B adjudication currently runs about 15 business days once filed. For F-1 OPT transitions, the cap-gap rule can extend your work authorization automatically if your OPT expires before October 1.
