Certify Your Credentials Before Applying
PTS Advance places Mechanics with end clients who require proof of technical qualifications upfront. Have your certifications, trade credentials, and any relevant licenses organized and ready to present before your first conversation with a recruiter.
Understand How Staffing Firms Sponsor Visas
PTS Advance is the employer of record in a staffing arrangement, so they file and hold your visa sponsorship, not the end client. Confirm this structure early so you know who to follow up with on USCIS filings and status updates.
Align Your OPT Start Date with Assignment Availability
If you're on F-1 OPT, coordinate your authorization start date with PTS Advance's active placements. Staffing firms work on project-based timelines, so gaps between OPT start and assignment readiness can put your 90-day unemployment limit at risk.
Ask About the PERM Timeline for Permanent Roles
EB-3 sponsorship through a staffing firm requires a PERM labor certification filed with the DOL before USCIS can process the immigrant petition. Ask PTS Advance's recruiting team which Mechanic roles have permanent placement potential and what their typical PERM process looks like.
Prepare for a Technical Screening Before the Offer
PTS Advance vets Mechanics on behalf of end clients, often running skills assessments or technical interviews before extending an offer. Practicing hands-on scenario questions specific to your mechanical specialty increases your chances of clearing that screen and triggering the sponsorship process.

Find Mechanic at PTS Advance JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does PTS Advance sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanics?
PTS Advance does not appear in public records as a common H-1B sponsor for Mechanic roles, which typically fall outside the specialty occupation definition H-1B requires. Mechanics at PTS Advance are more commonly supported through EB-2, EB-3, TN, or F-1 OPT and CPT pathways, depending on the candidate's qualifications and immigration goals.
Which visa types does PTS Advance commonly use for Mechanic roles?
PTS Advance sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visas for permanent placement, along with TN visas for qualified Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible mechanic classifications. F-1 OPT and CPT are also supported for students and recent graduates completing practical training in a relevant technical field. The right fit depends on your current status and career plan.
What qualifications and experience does PTS Advance expect for sponsored Mechanic roles?
PTS Advance recruits Mechanics for industrial, field service, and specialized technical environments. Relevant trade certifications, documented hands-on experience, and familiarity with the equipment or systems the end client uses are expected. For sponsored roles, your credentials also need to satisfy the evidentiary requirements of the visa category being filed on your behalf.
How do I apply for Mechanic jobs at PTS Advance?
You can browse open Mechanic positions at PTS Advance filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate. From there, apply directly or connect with a recruiter. Because PTS Advance is a staffing firm, the recruiter is your main point of contact for both the technical screening and any questions about how sponsorship is handled for a specific placement.
How do I estimate the timeline for getting sponsored through PTS Advance as a Mechanic?
Timeline depends heavily on the visa category. TN visas for eligible Mechanics can be processed at a port of entry on the same day. EB-3 sponsorship involves a PERM filing with the DOL followed by an I-140 petition with USCIS, which can take one to two years before a Green Card is issued. F-1 OPT authorization runs concurrently with your placement, so timing the assignment start correctly matters.
