Tailor your resume to contract placements
PTS Advance fills roles across multiple client sites, so framing your resume around project-based mechanical work, industries served, and transferable technical skills signals you can hit the ground running across varied client environments.
Get your credentials evaluated early
If your mechanical engineering degree is from outside the United States, obtain a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency before applying. Clients PTS Advance places you with may require proof of U.S.-equivalent qualifications before approving a hire.
Understand how TN status fits contract roles
Canadian and Mexican engineers can enter on TN status, which suits the short-term contract structure common at staffing firms. TN renewals align well with contract extensions, but confirm the job description explicitly lists qualifying engineering duties before relying on this pathway.
Track your OPT timeline against placement speed
Staffing placements can take weeks to finalize between client approval and offer letters. If you're on F-1 OPT, account for that lag when calculating your remaining authorization window so you're not filing a STEM extension under pressure.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active openings
PTS Advance lists Mechanical Engineer roles across specializations and regions. Browse current openings filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate to identify placements that match your authorization status before reaching out to a recruiter.

Does PTS Advance sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineers?
PTS Advance has a history of sponsoring employment-based visas including Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3 for Mechanical Engineers, but H-1B sponsorship through a staffing firm depends on the specific placement and client arrangement. Staffing firms can act as H-1B petitioners, but you should confirm with your recruiter whether the role and client site support that pathway before advancing in the process.
How do I apply for Mechanical Engineer jobs at PTS Advance?
You can browse and apply for Mechanical Engineer openings at PTS Advance through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can focus on positions that match your authorization status. Once you apply, a PTS Advance recruiter typically reaches out to discuss the placement details, client requirements, and your eligibility for sponsorship before moving to interviews.
Which visa types are commonly used for Mechanical Engineer roles at PTS Advance?
PTS Advance supports several visa pathways for Mechanical Engineers, including F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and employment-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 and EB-3 classifications. The right pathway depends on your nationality, degree, and the specific placement. TN and OPT tend to suit shorter contract engagements, while EB-2 and EB-3 are more common for longer-term or direct-hire roles.
What qualifications does PTS Advance typically expect for Mechanical Engineer positions?
Most Mechanical Engineer placements through PTS Advance require a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field, which is also the baseline for specialty occupation visa classifications. Client expectations vary by industry, but hands-on experience with CAD software, design processes, or systems relevant to the client's sector, such as energy, manufacturing, or aerospace, strengthens your candidacy significantly.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when placed through PTS Advance?
Timeline depends heavily on the visa type. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at the port of entry, sometimes on the same day. F-1 OPT authorization through USCIS takes up to 90 days, so applying early is critical. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship involves PERM labor certification through DOL, which can take one to two years before a visa becomes available, depending on your country of birth and priority date.
