Clarify Which Entity Files Your Petition
At a staffing firm like Jobot, the visa petition is typically filed by the end client employer, not Jobot itself. Confirm early whether Jobot or the client company will be the petitioner on your H-1B, since that determines who owns your status.
Align Your Resume to Industry-Specific CAD Skills
Jobot's Mechanical Engineer postings frequently emphasize SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and ANSYS. Tailor your resume to reflect specific software versions and project types, since Jobot recruiters match candidates to client job descriptions before ever discussing sponsorship eligibility.
Ask About TN Eligibility Before Accepting Offers
If you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship, TN status can be arranged at the port of entry without a lottery. For roles Jobot fills on contract, this can mean starting work weeks faster than an H-1B transfer would allow.
Search Jobot Openings Through Migrate Mate
Jobot lists Mechanical Engineer roles across multiple job boards, making it easy to miss visa-relevant postings. Use Migrate Mate to filter Jobot openings specifically by sponsorship type so you only spend time on roles that fit your immigration status.
Request LCA Confirmation Before Signing Any Offer
Before your start date, ask the sponsoring employer to confirm that the Labor Condition Application has been certified by DOL. The LCA must be certified before USCIS can adjudicate your H-1B petition, and delays here can push back your start date significantly.
Document Your OPT Cap-Gap Window If You Are on F-1
If you are on F-1 OPT and Jobot files an H-1B petition before your OPT expires, the cap-gap provision lets you continue working through September 30. Carry your OPT EAD, Form I-20 with the cap-gap notation, and the H-1B receipt notice when on site.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jobot sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineers?
Yes, Jobot has sponsored H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineer roles. Because Jobot operates as a staffing firm, sponsorship arrangements can involve the end client employer as the petitioner rather than Jobot directly. Confirm the sponsoring entity during your first recruiter conversation, since that affects which company's name appears on your petition and I-129.
Which visa types are commonly used for Mechanical Engineer roles at Jobot?
H-1B is the most common path for Mechanical Engineers at Jobot. F-1 OPT is accepted during the job search and early employment phase. TN visa status is a practical option for Canadian and Mexican citizens, since Mechanical Engineering appears on the USMCA qualifying occupation list and does not require a lottery or USCIS filing before starting work.
What qualifications and experience does Jobot expect for Mechanical Engineer roles?
Most Mechanical Engineer postings at Jobot require a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD is expected. Many client roles also require experience with GD&T, FEA analysis, or product development cycles. Entry-level postings exist, but mid-level candidates with two or more years of hands-on design or manufacturing experience see the strongest recruiter response.
How do I apply for Mechanical Engineer jobs at Jobot?
You can browse Jobot's Mechanical Engineer openings and filter by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles specifically matched to your immigration status. Once you identify a role, apply directly and expect an initial outreach from a Jobot recruiter who will screen your technical background and confirm sponsorship viability before presenting you to the client employer.
How do I plan my timeline around Jobot's H-1B sponsorship process for a Mechanical Engineer role?
The H-1B cap lottery opens in March for an October 1 start date. If Jobot and its client agree to sponsor you, the employer must register you with USCIS in early March. Factor in time for the client to complete prevailing wage analysis and DOL's LCA certification before that window. If you are already in H-1B status with another employer, an H-1B transfer through Jobot can begin on the date USCIS receives the petition, so your work authorization is not interrupted.
