Collaborating with an in-house, multi-disciplinary engineering and construction team — including civil, structural, geotechnical, construction management, and construction experts — a Design Geologist plays a crucial role in providing geo-structural design solutions on projects; responsibilities include geologic data collection and interpretation supporting design production, and geologic support during construction.
This role is an office-based position with a primary focus on executing both pre-construction geotechnical investigations, geologic hazard assessments, and construction-phase monitoring services. A successful candidate is able to utilize geologic judgment, field observations, and digital technologies such as LiDAR and GIS to assess and quantify geologic conditions. Periodic fieldwork is also expected, related to activities such as geological characterization of materials in the field, and quality control and assurance of construction projects. The Design Geologist will perform under the direct oversight of a Professional Engineering Geologist and/or Geotechnical Engineer, to solve complex problems. The position involves use of sound geotechnical and geologic judgement, field data collected by themselves or others, and digital technologies to develop economical solutions to support civil construction and communicate effectively with project management, technical, and construction personnel.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data in support of geotechnical studies, foundation engineering designs, and site investigations as required by a project.
- Perform desktop-based geologic research, organizing, data analyses, interpreting and concisely presenting research data collected from a variety of public and private sources.
- Manage and operate geotechnical and geophysical instruments, track test results, process and interpret data, and troubleshoot when issues arise.
- Interface closely with project-level and senior leadership personnel within the company, including geotechnical, geological, structural, transmission line, and civil engineering, GIS, and construction management team members.
- Provide information on geologic conditions, hazard assessments and apply geologic engineering principles to solve complex problems.
- Participate in field subcontractor activities, such as geotechnical drilling and testing and/or forensics studies.
- Develop written reports and/or provide verbal communication of information in a professional and appropriate manner under the direct supervision of a senior level Geotechnical Engineer or Geologist in a professional office setting.

- Participation in sector focused professional organizations, and attendance and presentations at industry events.
- Performs special projects and completes other job-related duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- Bachelor of Science degree (BS) in Geologic Science.
- Academic qualification for geologic licensure, via completion of the Fundamentals in Geology (FE), or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) certifications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, working with moderate supervision and maximum efficiency in a small or medium size office setting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Completion of a 4-6 week capstone field camp as part of the academic curriculum.
- Master’s degree or upper division coursework in geotechnical engineering preferred or engineering geology, or experience in the geotechnical field.
- Familiarity with use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and associated software for collection and analysis of large geological and geotechnical data sets.
- Experience supporting construction-phase services preferred, such as quality control/assurance testing and contractor interface in an active construction environment.

Migrate Mate surfaces Engineering Supervisor openings at Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, saving you time sorting through roles that won't move forward for international candidates.
Clarify your visa type early in conversations
Quanta sponsors both H-1B and TN visas for engineering roles. If you're Canadian or Mexican, the TN pathway avoids the H-1B lottery entirely and can move significantly faster. Raise your status early so the recruiter routes your application to the right process.
Prepare for USCIS specialty occupation documentation
H-1B approval for Engineering Supervisor roles requires proving the position qualifies as a specialty occupation. Gather job descriptions, organizational charts showing your technical responsibilities, and documentation that a bachelor's degree in engineering is a minimum requirement for the role.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group sponsor H-1B visas for Engineering Supervisors?
Yes, Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering Supervisor roles. The company operates across large-scale energy infrastructure projects where specialized engineering talent is consistently needed. H-1B sponsorship requires Quanta to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL and submit an I-129 petition to USCIS, so the process involves both agencies and a lead time of several months.
How do I apply for Engineering Supervisor jobs at Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group?
You can browse and apply for Engineering Supervisor openings at Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship eligibility. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect field supervision experience, relevant engineering credentials, and any U.S. licensure progress. Quanta's recruiting teams often prioritize candidates who are clear about their work authorization status from the first touchpoint.
Which visa types does Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group use for Engineering Supervisor roles?
Quanta sponsors H-1B visas as the primary route for Engineering Supervisors, and also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students or recent graduates in qualifying engineering programs. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for the TN visa under the USMCA, which bypasses the H-1B lottery and can be arranged more quickly. The right visa type depends on your nationality, current status, and where you are in your career.
What qualifications does Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group expect for Engineering Supervisor roles?
Engineering Supervisor candidates at Quanta are typically expected to hold a bachelor's degree in electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering, along with field supervision experience in energy or infrastructure construction. Progress toward a Professional Engineer license strengthens your application. Quanta's supervisory roles require managing field crews and coordinating with project management, so demonstrated leadership in a technical environment is a practical requirement, not just a preference.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for Engineering Supervisor roles at Quanta?
For H-1B sponsorship, Quanta must first file an LCA with the DOL, which typically takes one to two weeks. USCIS then processes the I-129 petition, with standard processing running three to five months and premium processing available for a faster decision. TN visas for eligible nationals can be obtained at a port of entry with the right documentation, often within a single day if paperwork is in order.
