Align your portfolio to RLHF work
Scale AI's AI ML Engineer roles center heavily on reinforcement learning from human feedback and model evaluation pipelines. Frame your resume and GitHub projects around RLHF, preference modeling, or data quality tooling rather than general ML infrastructure.
Target roles that clear specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires H-1B roles to qualify as specialty occupations requiring a directly related bachelor's degree or higher. AI ML Engineer positions at a data-labeling and model-training company like Scale AI typically satisfy this, but your degree field still needs to align with the role description.
Use OPT strategically during your job search
If you're on F-1 OPT, your 60-day unemployment grace period starts the moment you stop working. Line up your Scale AI application timeline so you're not burning that window while waiting for interview loops to progress.
Search Scale AI roles through Migrate Mate
Filter for AI ML Engineer openings at Scale AI by visa type using Migrate Mate, which surfaces sponsorship-confirmed listings. This saves you time validating whether a specific posting actively supports your visa category before you apply.
Prepare for a multi-round technical loop
Scale AI's engineering interviews for ML roles typically include coding rounds, ML system design, and a domain-specific evaluation component. Come ready to discuss data pipeline architecture and model quality metrics, not just algorithm theory.

Find AI ML Engineer at Scale AI JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Scale AI sponsor H-1B visas for AI ML Engineers?
Yes, Scale AI sponsors H-1B visas for AI ML Engineer roles. The company has a consistent track record of filing H-1B petitions for technical positions. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions require winning the annual USCIS lottery, timing your offer around the March registration window matters. Cap-exempt paths may also apply depending on your situation.
Which visa types does Scale AI commonly sponsor for AI ML Engineer roles?
Scale AI sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, EB-2, EB-3, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and J-1 visas for engineering roles. Australian citizens benefit from the E-3 category, which has no lottery. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under TN. F-1 students can start on OPT while an H-1B petition is pending through cap-gap protection.
How do I apply for AI ML Engineer jobs at Scale AI?
You can find and apply for AI ML Engineer openings at Scale AI through Migrate Mate, which lists sponsorship-confirmed roles filtered by visa type. Once you identify a posting, apply directly through Scale AI's careers portal. Clearly signal your visa status and authorization needs early in the process, ideally in your initial recruiter conversation.
What qualifications does Scale AI expect for AI ML Engineer roles?
Scale AI's AI ML Engineer positions typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, machine learning, or a closely related field. Practical experience with RLHF, large language model fine-tuning, data quality pipelines, or model evaluation frameworks is highly relevant. Strong Python skills and familiarity with distributed training environments are standard expectations across most levels.
How do I think about visa sponsorship timing when targeting Scale AI?
Timing depends on your current status. H-1B cap-subject candidates need an offer in hand before the March USCIS registration window. E-3 and TN holders can change employers with relatively short lead times. F-1 OPT students should monitor their authorized employment end date and coordinate with Scale AI's HR team on premium processing to avoid any gap in work authorization.
