Align your credentials with FDA-regulated standards
SGS's medical device QC roles operate under FDA and ISO 13485 frameworks. Before applying, document your hands-on experience with those standards specifically, since hiring managers screen for compliance fluency before sponsorship conversations begin.
Target SGS sites near accredited testing labs
SGS clusters its medical device QC hiring around facilities with specific accreditations. Search openings by location and cross-reference with sites that list ISO 17025 or FDA registration, as those locations sponsor more consistently for technical QC roles.
Use Migrate Mate to filter SGS QC openings by visa type
SGS posts Quality Control Technician roles across multiple visa categories. Use Migrate Mate to filter by the specific visa type you need, so you're only spending time on roles where sponsorship matches your current status.
Prepare documentation proving specialty occupation status
H-1B approval for QC Technician roles in medical devices requires demonstrating that the position requires a specific bachelor's degree. Pull together transcripts, a detailed job offer letter, and any relevant certifications before your employer files with USCIS.

Find Quality Control Technician at SGS JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does SGS sponsor H-1B visas for Quality Control Technicians?
Yes, SGS sponsors H-1B visas for Quality Control Technician roles, particularly in its medical device testing operations. The role typically needs to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which means the position must require a specific bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as biology, chemistry, or biomedical engineering. Having clear degree-to-role alignment strengthens the petition significantly.
How do I apply for Quality Control Technician jobs at SGS?
Applications go through SGS's careers portal, where you can search by role title and location. Before applying, confirm the posting references visa sponsorship or that the site has a history of sponsoring QC roles in medical devices. Migrate Mate is the most efficient way to browse verified SGS Quality Control Technician openings filtered by the visa type you need, saving you from applying to roles that won't sponsor.
Which visa types does SGS commonly use for Quality Control Technician roles?
SGS sponsors H-1B visas for degree-holding candidates and supports F-1 OPT extensions for recent graduates in science or engineering fields. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical roles. For longer-term pathways, SGS has pursued EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship for QC professionals in its medical device division, depending on the role's requirements and the candidate's background.
What qualifications does SGS expect for a sponsored Quality Control Technician?
SGS typically expects a bachelor's degree in a life science, chemistry, or engineering field for roles requiring visa sponsorship. Hands-on experience with quality management systems, particularly ISO 13485 or FDA 21 CFR Part 820, strengthens your candidacy. Familiarity with inspection tools, documentation practices, and nonconformance reporting is commonly referenced in job postings. Relevant certifications such as ASQ CQT can differentiate you from other applicants at the interview stage.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining SGS as a Quality Control Technician?
Timeline depends on visa type. H-1B sponsorship is subject to the annual lottery, which runs each April for an October 1 start date, so plan around that window. TN and OPT transfers can move faster, sometimes within weeks of an offer. EB-2 and EB-3 green card pathways involve PERM labor certification plus USCIS petition processing, which together can take 18 months or more before a priority date becomes current.
