Company Overview
At Skild AI, we are building the world's first general purpose robotic intelligence that is robust and adapts to unseen scenarios without failing. We believe massive scale through data-driven machine learning is the key to unlocking these capabilities for the widespread deployment of robots within society. Our team consists of individuals with varying levels of experience and backgrounds, from new graduates to domain experts. Relevant industry experience is important, but ultimately less so than your demonstrated abilities and attitude. We are looking for passionate individuals who are eager to explore uncharted waters and contribute to our innovative projects.
Position Overview
We are looking for a Robotics Engineer specializing in Deployment & Testing to help further the performance and capabilities of Skild AI’s world-class high-level software and products through formalized, rigorous testing. You will design and implement automated software tests and the ecosystems in which they run. As a critical member of the robotics team, you will have an important role in defining the quality standards of our software while accelerating its development.
Responsibilities
- Define, implement, and maintain comprehensive regression tests for Skild AI’s software and products.
- Design and organize test plans according to priority, impact, risk, and feasibility.
- Debug and troubleshoot failures in complex scenarios while testing and/or deployment at customer sites.
- Maintain robots and ensure they are deployment ready.
- Recreate corner cases from production logs into repeatable tests.
- Collaborate closely with robotic software developers and machine learning engineers and provide feedback on what needs to be improved to produce and sustain a top-quality product that meets customer expectations.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS, MS or higher degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency developing in low-level systems languages (C, C++, Rust, Go) and Python.
- Experience with complex software systems working in real-time with embedded systems.
- Experience with Test Management and Requirements software.
- Experience with ROS/ROS2 or other robotics middleware platforms.
- Previous work experience as a Test Engineer.
- Prior experience developing and deploying software on real robots.
- Deep understanding and practical experience with software engineering principles, including algorithms, data structures, and system design.
- Familiarity with machine learning integration and deployment in robotic systems.

Align your credentials to robotics systems work
Skild AI hires engineers who can bridge machine learning research and real-world physical deployment. Frame your resume around foundation models, sim-to-real transfer, or large-scale training infrastructure rather than general software engineering experience.
Confirm OPT STEM extension eligibility early
Roles at an AI research company like Skild AI typically fall under CIP codes tied to computer science or engineering, qualifying for the 24-month STEM OPT extension. Verify your degree classification with your DSO before applying so timing doesn't create gaps.
Target roles that align with your visa timeline
If your OPT expires within six months, prioritize roles where H-1B cap-subject filing is feasible before your status lapses. Skild AI operates outside the cap-exempt research institution category, so the April 1 filing window and October 1 start date directly affect your offer timing.
Ask specifically about H-1B filing procedures during offers
Once you receive an offer, ask whether the company uses premium processing as a standard practice or only on request. For Engineering roles at AI startups, knowing the expected I-129 filing timeline helps you plan any relocation or travel around potential visa stamp appointments.
Browse Engineering openings at Skild AI on Migrate Mate
Filtering by visa type and employer before applying saves significant time. Migrate Mate lets you search Engineering roles at Skild AI specifically by sponsorship pathway, so you can match open positions to your current status without sorting through roles that don't fit.
Prepare documentation that reflects research-grade contributions
Skild AI operates in foundational AI research for robotics. Gather evidence of technical depth before interviews: published papers, open-source contributions, or documented performance benchmarks from prior roles strengthen both your application and any future H-1B specialty occupation evidence.

Find Engineering at Skild AI JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Skild AI sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Skild AI sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering roles. The company has a consistent sponsorship track record across its engineering function. Because Skild AI is a private company and not a university or nonprofit research institution, H-1B petitions are cap-subject, meaning candidates need to clear the annual lottery with an October 1 start date.
Which visa types does Skild AI commonly support for Engineering roles?
Skild AI supports H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visas for Engineering positions. F-1 students in computer science or engineering programs are well-positioned for STEM OPT, which provides up to three years of work authorization and time to go through the H-1B lottery cycle. TN applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering occupations under the USMCA.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Skild AI?
Applications go through Skild AI's careers page, where Engineering roles are listed by specialty such as robotics, infrastructure, or model training. You can also find and filter current openings by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which makes it straightforward to identify which roles match your specific immigration status before you apply.
What qualifications does Skild AI expect for Engineering roles?
Skild AI focuses on foundation models for robotics and general-purpose physical AI, so Engineering candidates are typically expected to have depth in machine learning, large-scale distributed training, or robotic systems. A graduate degree in computer science, robotics, or a related engineering field is common among hires, though strong industry experience with relevant systems can also qualify.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship at Skild AI?
USCIS opens H-1B registrations in March each year, with cap-subject petitions filed April 1 for an October 1 start. If you're on OPT, confirm your expiration date and whether your degree qualifies for the 24-month STEM extension, which gives you additional runway. Starting the interview process by late fall or early winter gives enough lead time for Skild AI's legal team to prepare the I-129 filing.
