Frame your resume around infrastructure scale
Switch operates large-scale data center and network environments. Tailor your resume to highlight systems-level engineering experience, distributed infrastructure, or network architecture. Generic software experience won't stand out the way domain-aligned work will.
Start OPT timing relative to Switch's hiring cycles
F-1 OPT authorization can take up to 90 days from your USCIS filing date. If you're targeting a Switch Engineering role post-graduation, file early enough that your work authorization is in place before your expected start date.
Ask specifically about H-1B support during the offer stage
Not every Engineering role at a sponsoring company qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines. When you receive an offer, confirm that the position meets specialty occupation criteria and that the team has handled H-1B filings for comparable roles before.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Engineering roles at Switch
Finding visa-sponsoring Engineering positions at infrastructure-focused companies takes more than a generic job board search. Use Migrate Mate to filter Switch's open Engineering roles by sponsorship type and apply directly to positions where your visa category is supported.

Find Engineering at Switch JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Switch sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Switch sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Engineering roles. To be eligible, the position must meet USCIS specialty occupation standards, which generally require a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field. H-1B sponsorship is not automatic for every open role, so confirming eligibility with the hiring team during the offer stage is the right move.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Switch?
You can find Switch's open Engineering positions through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can focus on positions where your work authorization is supported. From there, apply directly through Switch's hiring process. Engineering candidates should be prepared for technical assessments covering systems, networking, or software infrastructure depending on the specific role.
Which visa types does Switch commonly use for Engineering roles?
Switch sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for Engineering positions. F-1 CPT is typically available for students completing internships or co-ops. F-1 OPT and STEM OPT extensions cover recent graduates. TN classification is an option for Canadian and Mexican citizens in qualifying engineering occupations. H-1B covers longer-term full-time employment subject to the annual USCIS lottery.
What qualifications does Switch expect for Engineering candidates?
Switch's Engineering roles are oriented around data center infrastructure, networking, and large-scale systems operations. Candidates with backgrounds in network engineering, electrical engineering, systems architecture, or software engineering with infrastructure experience are well positioned. For H-1B or TN eligibility, your degree must be in a field directly related to the specific role, not just engineering broadly.
How do I plan my timeline around Switch's visa sponsorship process?
Timeline depends heavily on your visa category. TN and OPT can move quickly if documentation is in order. H-1B is subject to USCIS's annual lottery, with the registration window opening in March and cap-subject approvals taking effect October 1. If you're currently on OPT, confirm your remaining authorized period covers Switch's expected start date before accepting an offer.
