Align Your Degree to Teradyne's Hardware Focus
Teradyne's Electrical Engineer roles center on test equipment, PCB design, and semiconductor validation. A degree in electrical engineering or closely related hardware discipline strengthens your H-1B specialty occupation case and reduces the risk of a Request for Evidence.
Research Open Roles Before Applying
Teradyne posts Electrical Engineer openings across divisions including robotics, wireless, and semiconductor test. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Teradyne roles that include visa sponsorship, so you're targeting positions where the hiring team is already prepared to support international candidates.
Prepare for a Multi-Round Technical Process
Teradyne's Electrical Engineer interviews typically include hardware design exercises and system-level problem solving. Having your portfolio of PCB layouts, validation test plans, or signal integrity work organized before outreach puts you ahead when recruiters move quickly.
Clarify Sponsorship Scope During the Offer Stage
When you receive an offer, confirm whether sponsorship covers just H-1B or also includes long-term Green Card support through PERM-based EB-2 or EB-3. Electronics hardware employers often initiate PERM early given multi-year backlogs for certain nationalities.
Account for OPT Cap-Gap Timing in Your Start Date
If you're on F-1 OPT and selected in the H-1B lottery, your employment can continue through cap-gap protection until October 1. Confirm your OPT expiration and cap-gap eligibility with your employer's immigration counsel before committing to a start date.
Use DOL Prevailing Wage Data to Validate Your Offer
Before signing, cross-reference your offered salary against DOL prevailing wage levels for your specific Electrical Engineer role and work location. Your employer must certify LCA compliance, but verifying the wage level yourself ensures you're not underpaid relative to the required standard.

Find Electrical Engineer at Teradyne JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Teradyne sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers?
Yes, Teradyne sponsors H-1B visas for Electrical Engineer roles. The company has a consistent pattern of supporting international hires in technical engineering positions, particularly in hardware design and test systems. Sponsorship support is typically handled through an external immigration law firm engaged by Teradyne's HR team once an offer is extended.
Which visa types does Teradyne commonly use for Electrical Engineer roles?
Teradyne supports H-1B, TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles), and F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates. For longer-term employment, Teradyne has also pursued employment-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 and EB-3 PERM filings, which are common in the electronics hardware sector for engineers with specialized expertise.
How do I apply for Electrical Engineer jobs at Teradyne?
You can browse and apply for Electrical Engineer roles at Teradyne directly through Migrate Mate, which filters for positions that include visa sponsorship so you're not wasting time on roles that won't support your status. Teradyne's application process typically involves a recruiter screen, followed by technical and behavioral interview rounds focused on hardware design and systems engineering.
What qualifications does Teradyne expect for Electrical Engineer candidates seeking sponsorship?
Teradyne generally looks for a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field. For H-1B purposes, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation, which Teradyne's hardware engineering positions typically satisfy. Hands-on experience with PCB design, analog or digital circuit development, or automated test equipment significantly strengthens both your candidacy and the sponsorship petition.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take if Teradyne extends an offer?
The standard H-1B process runs on an annual cap cycle with a lottery in March and an October 1 start date, so timing your offer relative to that window matters. USCIS premium processing can reduce adjudication to around 15 business days once a petition is filed. If you're transitioning from OPT, cap-gap rules allow you to continue working while your petition is pending.
