Align your credentials with university standards
Universities like Touro often require licensed tradespeople or project managers with certifications recognized at the state level. Confirm your credentials transfer to New York and update your resume to reflect U.S.-equivalent licensing terminology before applying.
Target facilities and capital projects departments
Touro's Construction hiring typically flows through facilities management and campus development teams, not general HR postings. Searching those departments directly, or contacting the facilities director, puts your application in front of the decision-makers who understand sponsorship.
Clarify your visa category before the offer stage
Construction roles at universities can fall under H-1B if the position requires a specialized degree, or TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering categories. Knowing which category fits your role before negotiations prevents misaligned expectations with HR.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Construction roles
Filtering by sponsor history is critical when targeting university employers. Use Migrate Mate to browse verified Construction openings at Touro University and prioritize roles where the institution has already demonstrated a willingness to sponsor your visa category.
Prepare project documentation before the interview
Touro interviewers for Construction roles commonly ask for evidence of project scope, budget oversight, or compliance work. Bring a portfolio or summary document that connects your previous projects to the scale and regulatory requirements typical of a multi-campus university environment.

Find Construction at Touro University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Touro University sponsor H-1B visas for Construction roles?
Yes, Touro University has sponsored H-1B visas for workers in Construction-related roles. Eligibility depends on whether the specific position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning it requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Project management, construction engineering, and facilities roles with degree requirements are the most likely to qualify.
Which visa types are commonly used for Construction roles at Touro University?
Touro University has sponsored H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card pathways for employees. For Construction roles specifically, H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant route for degree-holding professionals. TN is an option for Canadian and Mexican engineers in qualifying categories. OPT and CPT are available for recent graduates completing construction management or engineering programs.
How do I apply for Construction jobs at Touro University?
Applications go through Touro University's careers portal. For Construction roles, focus your search on facilities management, capital projects, and campus operations departments. Tailor your resume to reflect relevant certifications, project scale, and any U.S. licensing requirements for the state where the campus is located. You can also browse open Construction listings at Touro University through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles at visa-sponsoring employers.
What qualifications does Touro University expect for Construction roles?
Requirements vary by role, but most Construction positions at Touro University look for a combination of formal education in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field, and hands-on project experience. Roles involving oversight of contractors or capital projects often require a degree and professional certifications. State-specific licensing in New York or the relevant campus location may also be required.
How do I plan my timeline if Touro University is sponsoring my visa?
Timeline planning depends heavily on your visa category. H-1B petitions have an October 1 start date tied to the annual cap, so offers made after April may not take effect for six months or more. F-1 OPT students have up to 12 months of work authorization with a potential 24-month STEM extension. If Green Card sponsorship is on the table, PERM filings with the DOL can add a year or more before you receive permanent residency.
